hi guys, Maestro's here with another sight pole, the 434st one actually. In the last pole, everyone concluded that it's much easier to slide up a pole than it is to go down and that licking frozen metal ones is a great way to have some wintertime fun totally unrelated, 343 dropped another big announcement late last night that Halo will be coming to the Playstation 4.5 and Nintendo Switch S Nintendo, ripping consumer and investor expectations. After emerging from a Cadillac SUV with blacked out windows in a weird-smelling cloud of fog somewhere in Vancouver, Frankie, Bonnie, Shigeru, green Mario, and some guy from Sony told my uncle's friend who works for Polygon that "the MCC will go wherever you want it to" and then asked for some Doritos. Yeah, that's a thing that happened. So My question for you is; what will happen to the XBox now that Fortnite's dying?

From playstations latest issue of their magazine we get to know a little more about bungie and their approach to their new universe. With over half of the team that worked on Halo: Combat Evolved they are still here today helping to bring us a brand new universe. This article is from The Official Playstation Magazine If we’ve looked at any developer with green eyes here in the realm of PlayStation gaming, it’s Bungie. A studio that defined the first-person console shooter formula with its pioneering two-weapon, recharging health mechanics in Halo and went on to make that formula so effective that gamers spent a collective 235,000 years playing the series. A studio that created one of the most iconic player characters in history, and a multiplayer experience that’s hosted over two billion games since Halo 2’s release in 2004. These numbers aren’t intended to sting your eyes, nor should they. Bungie’s new project Destiny, a persistent shared-world FPS, is heading to both PS3 and PS4 – and with platform-exclusive content to boot. It brings not only the Halo studio’s undeniable shooter mastery, but one of the most ambitious visions we’ve ever heard. And it’s all funded by Activision, creator of enormous, world-stomping franchises. If any partnership can make such an ambitious game as Destiny actually work, it’s this one. So now we can finally acknowledge Bungie, and it feels great. But who exactly is this studio? A collective of savant coders in green spacesuits that stomped DualShocks on sight until its split from Microsoft in 2007? Do the staff bounce around the office on space hoppers, extolling the merits of a Valve-esque ‘flat hierarchy’ and taking bi-hourly group hug breaks? To crack into the Bungie psyche, we explore its Seattle headquarters – a converted cinema. “This mezzanine is where the projectors used to be,” says COO Pete Parsons, guiding us through an impressive open space littered with awards gongs, life-sized Master Chiefs and wide-eyed journos. Sure enough, there’s a touch of the unorthodox to Bungie: a ten-foot climbing wall where most offices would have a couple of sofas, an absence of individual offices, masking-tape marks on the floor where a kind of knighting ceremony for new employees and five-, ten- and 20-year veterans took place several weeks back, and an ever-shifting desk arrangement. “Over half the team that created Halo: Combat Evolved back in 2001 is still here today, working on Destiny” “Back in 2005 we decided to put everybody’s desks on wheels,” says Parsons. “We probably do ten to 15 desk moves every week.” These are the affectations of a studio that’s earned the right to hang a little loose by its body of work. You could walk through the doors in foot gloves and a propeller hat if you had a particular predilection for it… so long as you helped make one of the biggest shooter series of all time. And there’s more to that knighting ceremony than fistbumps and bro-ing out – over half the team that created Halo: Combat Evolved back in 2001 is still here today, working on Destiny. An increasing rarity in game studios that’s well worth celebrating. And arguably for the first time since 2001, the studio’s truly out of its comfort zone. Destiny is a rather nebulous project at the moment: it’s a persistent online world, but not an MMO. It’s a first-person shooter, but bears glaring RPG elements that include loot, character upgrades and stat progression. One thing’s crystal clear, though: this isn’t a rebranded Halo for multi-platform release. As Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg describes it: “I think what Bungie has created is the world’s first shared-world shooter. It’s a game that’s always evolving, with persistent progression for your character.” Bungie’s approach? Build an awesome world (these guys love the word awesome), and you’ve already won half the battle. It’s even one of the seven ‘pillars’ of design that creative director and co-founder Jason Jones describes: “A world you want to be in… This pillar was a big influence early in development. It let us create a world that was hopeful, that was full of mystery, a world you wanted to be part of and to explore.” You can throw in all the brutal melee takedowns and slo-mo ‘mark for death’ mechanics you like, but if your world is as fun to inhabit as an Aldi car park, your game’s going to fail

So, recently as a good amount of us have been enduring the darkness and pushing it back, we've also been collection some engrams. And, the Cryptarch as the silly fellow he is never really gave up Legendary items. Thanks to Bungie hearing the plea of us guardians, here's their response to this issue. "Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly. Legendary Engrams will always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics Rare Engrams will always produce Rare or better quality items Rare engrams will have an increased chance to produce Legendary quality items" That means our blue skinned friend won't be trolling us all for a while... Hopefully. In other news, we also have some changes to Vanguard Strikes. These will now give us Legendary/Rare Items or Engrams aside from the normal rewards you'd recieve. We also get to see certain materials such as "Ascendant Materials" in general become Legendary to match what they are normally associated with. NOTE: All Legendary Engrams will be turned to Rare Engrams when the patch rolls out. Here's what Bungie had to say about this - "Legendary Engram items that exist in your inventory will be demoted to Rare quality when the patch goes live, so decode them while you can. But let’s be honest--even if you don’t, we all know they were blues already..." Praise the Traveller! Source: http://www.bungie.net/7_102-Patch-Preview/en/News/News?aid=12202

Rumors have been going around that there is a possibility for cross-platform gaming with the next gen consoles. For example if some players are playing Destiny on PlayStation Network and other players are playing it on Xbox Live then they'd be able to play together because they're playing the same game. Now, I don't think that they'd do this simply because of the competition between the two gaming consoles and although it'd unite a gaming community, that's not what business is about. Keep in mind that these games are being held on the same developer servers. Here's some things that others had to say: Azaxx says, "Across PS4 and Xbox One, it has a very slim chance. It works because of being consoles, but may not happen because Sony/MS. And PC to consoles simply will not happen. Way to OP for PC to be playing." Halo5 follower said, "well, there was a rumor that the PS3 game, Dust514, would be able to play with Xbox. However, that was just on Youtube, so the reliability of it was pretty low. If microsoft can talk to Sony then a guess things may start to happen..." Contrary to the beliefs above Ledgend 1221 had this to say, "With Games like ESO, I'd say there's a chance it will happen. At least I hope so, it would be fun to duke out the rivalry in an online arena. PCs should remain separate, too much of a gap." Archangel Tyrael chimed in about PC cross platforming as well as console and said, "I don't think cross platform servers will be done. Mainly for PC; PC will dominate for these various reasons: 1.) Easier and precise aiming. 2.) Modding can be done easier and hackers. This will be a serious problem. 3.) More control. 4.) Putting PC players and consoles players together would cause a lot of butthurt fanboys and unfair gameplay. That's just for the PC. Now I am not saying it's impossible for Xbox and PS to share servers, but in my opinion, it wont happen. Xbox and PS are rival consoles. Not only that, there is already servers for Xbox and Sony; that leads me to think they will be to their own console. While, it might be nice it just wont happen and shouldn't because of the last PC reason -- even for MMO's like: TESO, and anymore that are to come." TexHellsAngel376 has a similar belief to mine and told me, "I don't think MS and Sony will stop fighting enough to do it." Will the dream of cross-platform gaming ever become a reality? Discuss and leave your thoughts below.

Some recent Console news for you! Recently, Playstation turned 20 years old! For this special occasion, Playstation will be turning one of their PS4's into a PS1, only in colors though! To go further on this topic, a recent GameSpot article said this, "Sony and Microsoft may be rivals in the console space, but that hasn't stopped top Xbox boss Phil Spencer from sending some well wishes to PlayStation for its recent 20th anniversary. @PlayStation Congrats on 20 years of success with PS. #20YearsOfPlay — Phil Spencer (@XboxP3) December 4, 2014 The PlayStation brand celebrated its 20th anniversary on Wednesday, following the Original PlayStation's release in Japan on December 3, 1994. The Xbox is a younger platform. It was initially introduced in 2001, meaning its 20th anniversary won't come until 2021. To celebrate the PlayStation's 20th anniversary, Sony earlier this week announced a limited-edition PlayStation 4 modeled after the Original PlayStation. Only 12,300 units will be made, and you'll be able to preorder one starting on Saturday, December 6." (http://www.gamespot.com/articles/top-xbox-boss-congratulates-sony-on-playstation-s-/1100-6423974/) I may not be the biggest fan of Playstation, but it makes me happy that gaming has gone this far!

Welcome, below is the first reincarnation of the Weekly News Wrap-up, for those who do not know, the WNW was originally done in the News Group but around 2013 it seemed to stop production, I have decided to reincarnate it in my own format, several articles meshed into one long piece, as the several might not have been able to stand on their own, or it could serve as an easier method of keeping up to date all around the gaming world, rather then just the huge highlights. These will resume next Friday and will run week-by-week on each Friday unless an issue is brought up, which will be highlighted to readers via notification so they are aware of the delay. Now let's get reading! View attachment: WNW 41714.JPG PlayStation 4 Sales Surpass 7 Million Units The Sony PlayStation 4 has been incredibly successful in the coming months of it's launch. Titles like Infamous: Second Son and Killzone: Shadow Fall have enticed players from multiple platforms to purchase a PS4 and get their fill of next generation gameplay there. On April 16th, on PlayStation's Blog at PlayStation.com, Sony's Social Media Manager Sid Shuman announced that the PlayStation 4 had surpassed the 7 Million unit mark. The mark was apparently reached April 6th, 2014 and yesterday it was massively surpassed, making a huge mark for the company and for the console itself. Sid also hinted at new software updates for the PlayStation 4 to be released soon which turned out to be 1.70 increasing share features. View attachment: playstation_4_logo_2.jpg What's your take on this? Is the revenue well deserved, and has your experience with the console (if you own it) been satisfactory? Leave your thoughts below! Titanfall: Expedition Downloadable Content Coming in May Respawn Entertainment's crown jewel, Titanfall, has received quite the positive feedback without countless perfect scores from credible outlets, but, it's publisher Electronic Arts has a habit of leaving games unfinished and releasing the cut parts as Paid DLC. That seems to be the case today, as on Titanfall.com, it was revealed that Titanfall is getting a new DLC next month, only at it's highest two months from the main game's launch, containing features that do in-fact seem to have been cut from the main game. It contains just three new maps, with later updates including features like Titan customization and Private Lobbies, all features that would have been possible to add in the main game and likely were planned to be added for free. It is priced at $9.99, or alternatively you may purchase the Season Pass getting all of the packs for a discount. View attachment: TitanfallExpeditionArtB.png Are you annoyed by this, or is it acceptable and are you purchasing the DLC considering it's rushed nature and barebones content for it's price? Let me know below! Civilization: Beyond Earth Announced Sid Meier's next new Civilization title has been announced, hailing to the days of Alpha Centuri. The game is called Civilization: Beyond Earth and was announced mainly on the official Civilization channel in a teaser, it will follow you expanding to another planet, while doing what a Civilization game does best, turn-based strategy. It's all very exciting detailing but aside from that 2K and Firaxis Games have been slim on the details for the game, and as for the possibility of it coming to Next Generation consoles, we're unsure. It is however confirmed for PC, and that will likely be where it is limited to. View attachment: Civilization-Beyond-Earth-1.jpg Are you a fan of the Civilization games and how do you feel about the new direction they are taking the games? Leave your thoughts on your approvals of the series below and tell me what you think! Thanks for reading the Weekly News Wrap-up's first Reincarnation, see you all next week, leave feedback below!

Phil Spencer Takes the ALS Ice Water Challenge; Please Donate!
VinWarrior posted a article in Other Articles
I'd like to start this off by saying while not a lot of you could consider this "news", this was requested by a few people to be covered and I think it should be seen and spread so that we can raise awareness of this horrible disease and help those struggling with it. Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft, has undertaken the ALS Ice Water Challenge! Now, before you ask, the ALS Ice Water Challenge is a chain-letter style challenge system where one person nominates three people and then proceeds to dunk ice cold water on his/herself. The three that person nominates have 24 hours to respond by doing the challenge or they have to donate $100 to ALS awareness, properly known as Lou Gerhig's disease. On Xbox's Phil Spencer not only undertook the challenge, but as well donated money to the organization. He nominated Valve's Gabe Newell, Sony's Shuhei Yoshida, and Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime, he himself was nominated by the well known Notch, creator of Minecraft. Sony responded and undertook the challenge themselves, nominating GameStop's head, Activision's head, and Sony Europe's exec. So far, Valve and Nintendo haven't responded (to my knowledge). View attachment: Untitled.png Now, I recommend everyone donates or tries the challenge but I'm going to conduct something myself. I myself undertook the challenge and I'll edit the video of it below, but I'd like to nominate some members to do it themselves or donate! I'd like to nominate Jack of Harts, Yoshi1176, and Stinky! You three have 24 hours to take the challenge and/or donate, but because I know some members have like to keep private, you don't have to record yourself doing the challenge. Feel free to nominate three other members once it is completed, and we'll try to raise some awareness for ALS! If you would however like to share the video of yourself doing it feel free to post it below. Thanks for reading everyone, and thanks for spreading awareness for ALS! Donate at ALSA.org. (Note: I know this is very unusual news to some people and may not be considered it, but I feel raising awareness is important. If a moderator feels this doesn't belong, go ahead and move it to the general discussion, I don't mind!)- 2 comments

Will anyone be getting the Xbox One specifically for Halo? Amazon has only sold out 25K units for the X1, sounds a little low to me.

With Microsoft and Sony both announcing their next generation consoles, we're already starting to see the competition between the two developing companies over the better console naturally. "The PS4 is a great video game console that appeals to video gamers." - Kaz Hirai. At D11, Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai told reporters that this was significant because they wanted to convey the message that the PS4 was mainly made for video gamers. Hirai did say that Sony would be showing off more of the features that are not focused on video gaming but that it would come later. We have a big E3 to look forward to this year. Kaz Hirai would like the Gaming Community to know that, "...[The PS4 is] first and foremost a video game console."1 So far, Microsoft has shown the Xbox One to be a family entertainment, full living room experience. It showed more focus on its features that were not gaming. Sony on the other hand, presented many game demos for the PlayStation 4 and put the focus on the gaming. So the question is, who's doing it better? 1 - Soure - The Verge

It let us create a world that was hopeful, that was full of mystery, a world you wanted to be part of and to explore.” You can throw in all the brutal melee takedowns and slo-mo ‘mark for death’ mechanics you like, but if your world is as fun to inhabit as an Aldi car park, your game’s going to fail This post has been promoted to an article

The current video game console generation is entering is nearing its end, and with that inevitability with the unceasing rumors of what each company's next hardware will be capable of, Nintendo has already shown its hand by unveling the Wii U, and now some 'tasty tidbits' (XD) are beginning to surface regarding the next Xbox from Microsoft. Nicknamed the Xbox 720, some new, well-sourced rumors have suggested that it will be six times as powerful as the current Xbox. :unworthy: The Xbox 360 is no slouch, and still hosts some of the most popular games, but the hardware is approaching its 6th birthday and some serious advancements have been made in the world of graphic processing in the last half decade. The new Xbox will reportedly run on a derivative of the AMD's 6670 graphics chip, which supports 1080p HD, 3D, and linking to multiple external displays. Compared to the Wii U, the Xbox 720 should be roughly 20% more powerful, though the stats of the two systems are said to be close enough that their audiences may not even notice a difference. Like Microsoft, Sony has yet to officially reveal anything about its followup to the Playstation 3, but based on their console release history, a new machine is surely in the works. Where the PlayStation 4 will stack up in comparison to the new systems by Nintendo and Microsoft is anyone's guess.
