  1. Hi everyone, Spartan here with site poll #84. Last week we discussed whether Halo Infinite will be open-world or not, and there were some great points made by community members. Click here to view the last poll, #83. Do you want the REQ system to return? Halo 5's REQ system is controversial, that's for sure. Some love it, some hate it. Frank O'Connor said in an interview at the start of this year that the REQ system is "well-liked", which caused quite a stir considering how many people in the Halo community are opposed to it. The REQ system is something very new to Halo, who could have seen it coming? It's not a very unique idea, but it's something I would have never imagined coming to Halo. The main issue people have is that it can benefit users who have more money to spend on the game. Sure, there's no direct impact on your performance in Arena, but there can be in Warzone. I think the "unbalance" argument for the REQ system isn't a good one, because 343 integrated it really well and fairly. My problem is that it's boring, like really boring. Think Halo Reach's credit system, but you don't necessarily get what you want. I personally believe Halo 5's armour "unlocking" is the worst way in any Halo game out there. What if you just want this one set of armour, but the chances of you getting it depend on an RNG, and how many REQ points (or how much cash) you have to burn. What's your stance on the REQ system? Stances, those are something else you can only get randomly by an "RNG pack"... Let me know whether you want the REQ system to return or not, and why. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, Spartan out.
  2. The REQ packs in Halo 5 in my opinion are done wrong. In order to get that armor set you want you need to open a REQ pack and hope its in there. The thing that made the other Halo games so good is their combination of skill, patience, and hard work. In Halo 5 you don't need any of those to get what you want. In the older Halos you had to look at the armor you wanted and find out the requirements needed to unlock it and you only got the armor you wanted. The requirements needed to unlock the armor you wanted were challenging and required skill and patience. After you put in the blood, sweat, and tears you would get the armor you wanted. Now the way you get armor is based all off of luck. Someone could want a armor set like Noble and have played the game for over a two years and not have gotten it, while a new person can open up their first REQ pack and get the noble armor and not even want it. I personally think this is unfair to the player base. The players bought the game and were promised an action packed game with customization feature and a good campaign. They didn't get that. What they got was a game where either you get spawned killed or you run for a minute every time you mess up, and they get a campaign that is repetitive, and sure they can customize their character but they cant have their character look the way they want because they have to get lucky in order to get the armor they want. The armor unlocks in Halo 5. The armor unlocks to me are an effort to please the people who think that the way you should get armor is to unlock it and in a way it did please me... until i learned how you have to unlock them. In order to unlock the unlock able armor in Halo 5 you have to buy the Master chief collection. From what i understand you get nothing for completing the campaign on legendary because the armor you would get for completing the campaign is now impossible to get unless the bought the master chief collection and beat every Halo game on legendary. This is wrong. Someone bought your game so they shouldn't have to give you more money to get the other part of the game they already bought. You know Bungie ,the old makers of Halo and the ones who made the armor earning system perfect and the gameplay amazing, also tried to take their players money in a similar way. Do you know what happen to them? Over half the people who played their game stopped playing and actually sold their game. I couldn't even sell the game. Not even to the game store that buys games for consoles or devise that aren't around anymore because they already had twenty three copies of the game. The fact that you made it to where all the older armor was only unlock able through the master chief collection really made me mad. New players to Halo don't have the master chief collection so you just gave them a big middle finger and people who cant afford the master chief collection cant get the armor too so now you guys are taking away their ability to take their mind off of life and the stresses of it because the immersion of the game just got hit by a ******* truck. When i played Halo Reach i never once fell out of immersion. I played Halo Reach's campaign multiple times and each time i always feel like i am part of the Noble team. I have yet to be immersed by Halo 5's campaign. I stopped playing after i decided that while the campaign was better than i thought it would be it is still pretty terrible and needs a better story. There is a big gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5's campaign. While it was okay to leave a gap between Halo Reach and Halo 4 because master chief was a freezer burrito and didn't know what happen it is not okay to do the same to halo 5 because a lot has happened since then. Through the whole line of Halo games there has never been a gap in campaigns that wasn't at least mentioned. As i said the Halo 5 campaign is repetitive and i stopped playing because all my team mates are only useful to get me up when an enemy grunt pulls out his shiny new dying ******* star of some far away place that i don't know because i bought the game for fun and i only catch up on the history of halo when it directly relates to the game. The campaign is easy the only hard part is trying to find the ammo to fire back at the enemy and trying to not die from a heat seeking nuclear bomb. Honestly i think REQ packs could be useful if used correctly. I think that REQ packs should only be used for weapon skins, weapon variants, and vehicle variants. While we are on the subject of weapon variants i think that you shouldn't have to open a REQ pack for a DMR because in every Halo with the DMR in it you could've used the DMR just as easily as you could've used the assault rifle. I also think that you should go back to military ranks instead of spartan ranks because it feels more immersive and it feels like you accomplished something, not just ranked up. One thing that i think everyone should keep in mind is that Halo Reach succeeded because everything in the game ran with each other. Everything from the ranking system to the armor design to even the map design all ran with each other making it feel like you were actually at someplace during a time. Each set of armor was different but still had the same rouged feel, and every map was different but still felt like they were built during an industrial age. The colors reflected the mood which was serious and sad. As the campaign progressed the world was crumbling and the feeling of helplessness started to set. Each mission had an important task to do not a get from point a to b but a get from point a to b by going around massive maps and completing objective which now in Halo 5 would be considered a mission per objective, but in Halo Reach one mission had possibly over twenty objectives. The ending where you die showed just enough to show that you've died but it showed so little that it would make you want to redo the campaign because you felt like maybe the second time it will be different, maybe the second time Noble team will live. No two missions were the same thanks to those and that is what Halo 5 is lacking and to be perfectly honest Halo 4 too. Even though the Halo Reach campaign was one of the hardest campaigns to complete people still played it because it was fun and it hooked people. People ended up playing Halo Reach's campaign for the story not the challenge or the fun. That's what Halo 5 is lacking. Even in the matchmaking you are reminded of the campaign in many different ways. You guys also changed so much about the armor that is to honor Noble team by changing the names and the look. Commando is now Noble and you now look like an iron man rip off. and the same with the others too. You should've made the recruit armor from Halo Reach and named it Noble 6. There is a lot to complain about in Halo 5 but i'm thankful that i can play a Halo 5 because with out 343 Halo probably would've stopped or for all we know would've been complete trash. One last thing. Maybe next Halo game they should make like stances or something that you only get if you live in a certain state. I also mainly was sort of yelling at 343 so i said you a lot but if someone would like to add or comment on something i said its a free country so go ahead and voice your opinion on the matter.
  3. This map is what I feel is Husky Raid of Infection. Humans start on one side of the Trench and make there way towards the middle and end where there are 3 huts with roofs and cover. On the way through and outside the trenches are powerful REQ weapons that can make this mode very hectic. To balance this out and make it fun Infected spawn all around the Valley and Trench and can run as well as Alpha Infected have super powerful and fast ground pounds. Weapons: -Tartarus' Gavel -Voids Tear -Halo CE Magnum -Bayonet Battle Rifle -Minds Eye Beam Rifle -White Scar Plasma Caster -Jorge's Chaingun -Detached Chaingun -Overshield 1 -Damage Buff 1 Rules of the game mode are still being tweaked but the game mode is called Havoc and is an infection variant.
  4. After the little tease of REQs we got in the preview last week we now have the full picture without any smudges or ONI logo's. And I've got to say, it was surprising. Anyway, here's the list: Turns out all the speculation surrounding the Legendary weapon was true. Jorge's HMG is making its return to Halo! If you get your hands on it you'll find that you walk a lil' faster and can take more of a punch. Also, your bullets explode in impact. I don't remeber it doing that in Reach but... I'll take it. The REQ with the mysterious ONI symbol plastered over it turned out to be a Pheaton variant. We were all hoping for the Falcon, but maybe this Pheaton won't explode from peashooter fire. Next we have all of the (predicted) Noble team armors. Keep in mind that they're not supposed to be exactly like the armors you saw in Reach (e.g "Emile's" knife is not on the shoulder armor). Wanted to clarify this since I've seen people literally going crazy over this. We also get a little armor mod that's going to help you be the designated driver. Finally we have the weapon attatchment of which I'm still not sure what they do exactly. I believe Fishy said on my last post that it was a marker/spotter of sorts. Moving on we have images of UI improvements. We finally get post game medals and extended stats in the carnage report for bragging rights and showing off. Extended stats include: All Medals earned from the match, including quantity, medal rarity, and description Tool of Destruction Killed Most (see who each player killed most, and how many times) Killed By (see who each player fell victim to the most, and how many times) Press LB or RB to view Commendations or Progress from your Recap Press LT or RT to view Recaps of other players from the match. And here's how it's going to look like: Fancy stuffs. Alongside the improved carnage report is a search preference tool that'll help you find a game your way. It's not exactly server region selection, but it's a step in the right way. With the tool we're getting we can choose between: Balanced (default): Search for a match based on your fireteam's skill and network connection quality. Expanded: Widen search parameters to find the first available match with reasonable skill matching and network connection quality. Focused: Narrow search to find the best match based on your fireteam's skill and connection. Search times may be longer than normal. Don't forget to leave your thoughts on Waypoint when it drops so 343i knows right from wrong! Additionally we get an explaination and criteria for the Infection medals we were shown in the preview. I'll post the list down here: Zombie Hunter - "Kill 5 Zombies without dying" Zombie Slayer - "Kill 10 Zombies without dying" Hell’s Janitor - "Kill 15 Zombies without dying" Hell Jumper - "Kill 20 Zombies without dying" Zombicide - "Kill 25 Zombies without dying" The Cure - "Kill 30 Zombies without dying" Infector - "Infect 2 Survivors without dying" Carrier - "Infect 3 Survivors without dying" Ravager - "Infect 4 Survivors without dying" Plague Bearer - "Infect 5 Survivors without dying" Lord of the Flies - "Infect 6 Survivors without dying" Last Man Standing - "Be the last man standing in a game of Infection" Infected - "Infect a survivor" Ancient One - "Survive an entire round as a Zombie and convert at least one Survivor" Survived - "Live through the Zombie Apocolypse" Resourceful - "Kill a Zombie when all of your weapons are empty" Stalker - "Assassinate a Zombie” Flatline - "Kill the last man standing in a game of Infection" Finally we get some additional tweaks for the Halo 5 sandbox in a little message from the Halo 5 multiplayer team. For Memories of Reach, we’ve fixed a bug where Spartan Charge would not properly target enemies at the edges of a red reticle on the horizontal plane (you can still get red reticle and miss vertically). Fear not, though – players who skillfully evade a Spartan-Charging player with Thrust will still escape without taking damage. Additionally, Spartan Charge with Speed Boost will no longer be a one-hit kill, and Spartan Charge with the Gravity Hammer will no longer be a one-hit kill. The last item is a slight increase to movement speed while crouching. This has been increased to allow for crouching to be a more viable choice for players to flank and attack. The speed isn’t drastic, but after months of testing we’ve found it to be the sweet spot. So, this is what you can expect when the update drops. Leave your thoughts and comments down below! Thank you for reading! Source: Halowaypoint
  5. Anyone having issues with the gold REQ pack bundles? I bought a 7x bundle 5 days ago and have yet to receive a single pack. The money has been taken out of my account and I have a receipt from Microsoft. Getting a bit upset about this.
  6. So the new update featured some new skins and armors and all that jazz, so I just wanted to put out there the idea of adding new assassinations. I don't know about everyone else but I love the idea of being able to pick your own custom assassination. Mainly, I just want to create a topic to suggest some new ones. For example: I would personally love to see an RKO assassination in the game. It'd be hilarious and awesome.
  7. I'm not talking about earning REQ points, I'm asking: During Warzone, does the entire team's REQ level go up together or do you unlock REQ levels personally? Also I've noticed that when I use an XP boost during Warzone, in the loading screen for the next game I play, it still looks like it is active. Do XP boost cards last for multiple games or are they 1 time use?
  8. Hello and welcome ladies and gentlewomen to the 2nd weekly site poll done by me and Kenway! The weekly poll is where we ask you for your opinion on (mostly) current events and give the most popular opinion back to you the next week. Last week we asked you about if you'd like to see the lore be expanded outside of the game (in books, comics, etc.) or prefered it to stick with the games. There were quite a few responses and most of you prefered it if the story was kept within the game, but didn't mind some of the side stories within other media. I think Axilus Prime explained it just right: Thanks for all your responses! Now let's move on to this weeks topic. This week we've gotten a more detailed explaination on requisition packs, or REQ Packs for short, from 343i where Mister Chief assured us that we shouldn't worry as much about them and that everything will be fine. So here's the question, how do you feel about the REQ system? Let us know down below and keep it clean! Thank you for reading! ~UP & EK
