  1. Well I guess I have to do an obligatory goodbye post or something. I said this to TD already, but I enjoyed the time I spent with 343i Staff since June (was it June?... I don't remember), and that it's a memorable experience I don't think I'll forget... even worse I don't think ANY of the other Staff guys will let me live this down. You can Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego! I always did push for the position the second I arrived, and to see it come true 2 years later (practically within a month's time... I think... friggin' can't remember someone re-jog my memory) was beyond expression. I literally was in shellshock for a week afterward. I'll be honest. I was on and off about getting the position until last year when I became serious, but hey we're not all perfect. Anyway the best part about this is that - with hard work and dedication: maybe even an eye for quality (this is up for debate) - I BECAME Staff. There were no strings pulled, or arms twisted. I accomplished this with determination and grit. Of course the ones who determine your rank can just as easily turn you down: which is why you work harder without demanding things from them. Being Staff is not a right: it's a privilege. Furthermore you can still be a productive member even if you're not Staff. Before you read on I'm going to say that the following is not spawned from anything that is happening right now. It's just a belief of mine that I think the members need to hear. I don't mean to offend, so if I do I apologize. Oh, and if I break the Staff code of honor by revealing hush-hush info then... I'm sorry? I don't think any of that is here. There might be. Proofread people. Now I once had a notion of Staff being... less than exemplary before becoming Staff - last year I think - but that quickly changed after sitting through an hour-long conversation with multiple Staff & Mod members who explained the situation to me in vivid detail - people who didn't have to explain it to someone as arrogant as I, but did it anyway. Witnessing the processes behind-the-scenes firsthand after becoming Staff also exceeded my expectations after being throttled months before. These guys REALLY work hard to deliver an awesome experience for you: all the while having to deal with life issues like college, work, families, etc. And it hurts them to see others scoff at their work. Of course constructive criticism is always welcome (sometimes the workforce - my name for Staff/CMods/Mods - messes up, and needs a member or two to tell it like it is), but to say they're doing nothing is not true. Not at all. Now I know some of you are thinking I'm some Ex-Staff holy warrior who thinks they can do no wrong: I'm not. They're not perfect. They don't get paid, and I believe Twam pays from his own wallet to keep the site running without gaining revenue from it (at least from what I've heard). Staff has had it's ups and downs, but they've always pulled through. They are here because of two things, the other thing I'll say later on. #1, They love this community, and have a mission to push it's growth: not to kill it. But they can't do it alone. There needs to be an effort from EVERYONE, including the members. Which is why I said that you don't need to be Staff to be someone worthy of acknowledgement. It's ok if you never get the position. Before any of you start thinking Staff is filled to the brim with doom & despair - which brings me to #2: it's lively as hell. I was as goofy as I've ever been with these people, and they are just as strange if not STRANGER than I am. The second reason we come here is to have fun. That may be a foreign concept to some people, but I definitely can speak for the others when I say at the end of the day we're all just trying to unwind with the squad, and talk about Halo or whatever game's good right now. Blinded during my grill of Staff on why they weren't doing their job I lost sight of what's important. They're here for the community, and to have fun. They're not a pack-mule, and they definitely don't have to deal with us but they do it anyway. Okey? Okey, good deal . Dunno if this rings true with the others or not, but I have a good inkling it does (I know I've said but but but like 40,000,000 times. I know my buts). Supposedly there's some positive message here that's going to get your hopes up or whatever. Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. Maybe there's a shroud over this entire string of exposition that hides the true meaning for only those who can see while truly seeing, and listen by actually listening. I definitely don't feel like being mushy, or gooey so I think we'll have enough of this crap for now: whichever poo there was in the first place. You tell me, feces... how many synonyms of dung can I cram in here before they send me out to the cow pasture to remove cowpatties?... I'm done now I swear. I don't feel like typing out some heartfelt goodbye. Instead I will end this with a quote by the divine Jon Stewart who's also not saying goodbye... "Rather than saying goodbye or goodnight, I’m just going to say I’m gonna go get a drink and I’m sure I’ll see you guys before I leave.” (I'm not leaving the forums. You creeps are my creeps).
