Turox
I’m debating between a roll-up cover and a folding one for my pickup. I haul tools during the week and bikes or kayaks on weekends. I like the idea of quick access, but I don’t want to compromise too much on security. Do roll-ups hold up well over time, or am I better off with a folding setup? Flomarrio
I’ve used both types over the years, and for your use case, I’d recommend going with something like the Revolver X4TS. It’s technically a roll-up, but way sturdier than the soft ones you’re probably thinking of. It’s got interlocking aluminum slats wrapped in a tough vinyl layer, so it gives you the flexibility of a roll-up but the strength and security more like a hard cover. I like that it opens fast, which is handy when I’m tossing gear in after a ride, but I also don’t stress when I leave tools inside while grabbing lunch. It rolls up without taking much space, so you can still use almost the full bed when it’s open. Mine’s seen a ton of use and hasn’t stretched or sagged like my old soft roll-up did. Definitely more expensive, but totally worth it if you need a mix of convenience and security. I’ve got friends who haul gear every day and they’ve been impressed too.
