Before I go, I wanted to share what went down today in the world of video games, popular culture and technology: Nintendo will release a super-sized Nintendo 3DS XL on August 19, 2012, offering bigger screens, better battery life, and a bundled S Nintendo confirms that the next Super Smash Bros. game will be developed by Namco Bandai under the guidance of Masahiro Sakurai. Nintendo confirms plans to release downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and the next Professor Layton game on the 3DS. Nintendo confirms plans to release two classic games per week throughout July in 3DS eShop for its 8-Bit Summer promotion. Members of Microsoft's Game Developer Network can now start tinkering with the software development kit for SmartGlass. A Need for Speed movie is planned for 2014, from Dreamworks. Ex baseball-great Curt Schilling says he is "tapped out" after the failure of 38 Studios. Mass Effect 3'S Extended Cut DLC release date has been announced by BioWare. Kirby's Dream Collection has been announced for the Wii by Nintendo. A woman in Washington allegedly stole $10K and spent it on a Facebook game. Nexon is going to be offering several of their free-to-play games on Steam. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is all about the coins. Professor Layton And The Miracle Mask is coming to America. Valve and Adult Swim are teaming up for something Team Fortress 2 related.
