The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is going to need a few more updates before it offers content that falls in line with the PC version of the game, but a newly announced DLC pack is geared toward allowing players to customize their experience. You'll get 40 new character skins, including familiar faces pulled from the world of video games, like 'Splosion Man and a Covenant Grunt.

The download pack ought to be arriving alongside the game's upcoming title update, bringing it up to v1.73, sometime in the coming days. There will also apparently be a trial version of the DLC, offering up an assortment of skins for free and letting you browse through the rest. I suppose this is the part where I'm supposed to point out that character skins are free for the PC version of the game... but yeah, whatever. It's Minecraft on your console. Skins! Woo!

The reason that they are charging for it is because Microsoft makes game developers pay to put out DLC. Sony does this as well, but Sony is more lenient on it than Microsoft. The DLC might not cost too much though, considering it's only skins.

However, the actual updates to the game (bringing it from 1.6 to 1.7 to 1.8 etc.) are rumored to be free. Not sure if this is true or not, but that's what's out there.
