There's a Deus Ex movie in the works. CBS Films has purchased the film rights to Square Enix's cyberpunk series, and Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh are attached to produce. The potential movie will be based on the second Deus Ex game, Deus Ex: Invisible War.

"As is clear from the wild success of the game, Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal know how to exceed their audience's expectations by engineering incredible worlds," said Terry Press, co-president of CBS Films. "No one knows 'Human Revolution' like the team that created it, and we look forward to working with them from day one to make a film adaptation worthy of the 'Deus Ex' name."

Aslarieh is Square's go-to guy for video game-to-film adaptations. He's currently working on a secondHitman movie, a Just Cause movie and the Kane and Lynch movie, all Square Enix/Eidos properties.

As for the content of the movie, there doesn't seem to be a script yet, but Deus Ex: Invisible War takes place twenty years after Deus Ex, in a world being rebuilt after a catastrophic event called the Collapse. Following a terrorist attack that destroys the city of Chicago, the player assumes the role of Alex D, a trainee at the fictional Tarsus Academy, whose support is sought by several organizations. As the game progresses, the player learns of conspiratorial factions which seek to drastically change the world.
