Halo epic Spartan
Do you think that since halo 3 didn't have fall damage should it return in halo
BigMartin58
I think that all the Halo's should have had it in the first place because now it seems like it would be weird to bring it back since it has been gone but I've been reading the fall of reach (yeah I know i'm late on my reading) and even Spartans will take some damage after about 30 meters. It says that a 30 meter drop wouldn't break any bones but it would cause organ damage. So, realistically, yes I think it should return, but I also think that it should have been in halo 2 and 3, as well.
Ryu♥Hayabusa
Now, In Halo 2 and 3, there were no real high maps that needed fall damage. Getting out of a banshee way up in the sky may have been deadly, but it happened rarely. In Halo 1 and Reach, there were high places in maps. I think having it as an option in game options and custom powerups would be great for classic and ODST maps respectively.

Mr Biggles
I agree, these guys are super soldiers, falling shouldn't affect them, hence, they shouldn't have fall damage.
WonderWombat
I don't care. I'm not dumb enough to jump off cliffs to find out. But seriously though I would have hated Spire if you could jump off the spire and just eat it.
Tallgeese
Seeing as they can enter atmosphere and crash land on a planet and survive, there should not be fall damage. But as stated above, if everyone could just jump of The Spire and continue on like nothing happend, that would be off...
Victory Element
I agree, these guys are super soldiers, falling shouldn't affect them, hence, they shouldn't have fall damage. they are still human though. and halo 4 has spartan IVs.....not as durable as the spartan IIs. I think it just realistic to include fall damage in the game. Jumping out of a 4 story building has its consequences, and spartans have their shields to absorb strong blows and impacts. They couldnt absorb that kind of impact with simply their human strength.....and remeber, spartans with a full set of MJOLNIR armor way close to 1000 pounds. Imagine all of the force that they come down with Seeing as they can enter atmosphere and crash land on a planet and survive, there should not be fall damage. But as stated above, if everyone could just jump of The Spire and continue on like nothing happend, that would be off... and this would be very wrong.....
DoctorB77
In the books they would take damage. It is realistic to take some damage. Even though they are super soldiers they still have soft tissue organs that respond to gravity and will be injured.
Glory of a Far Dawn
Spartan IV's aren't super soldiers, they're just soldiers. In suits. Which are awesome. Please make an option for it.
Wes Stone501
Yes from certain hieghts but on most default maps it should just be a slight stun

Tallgeese
@Victory Element: Didnt Chief fall from space through Earth's orbit into the jungle in Halo 3 and survive?
WonderWombat
@Victory Element: Didnt Chief fall from space through Earth's orbit into the jungle in Halo 3 and survive? Yes, but his suit locked up and I think he was incapacitated. Noble 6 fell through Reach's atmosphere in an inferior suit of armor and only hurt his arm a bit. Tallgeese
Exactly...so I think if both of them can survive and with Noble 6 being inferior to Chief, than there should not be AS much fall damage. But there still needs to be some consequence for jumping off a tall building lol
Playa
i think there should be fall damage, just not as much as in reach.

Even a regular Marine is meant to survive with one of those.
Tallgeese
Right but Chief did not have a re-entry unit and yes his suit locked up and he was unconscious, but he still survived the fall. So if he can survive a fall of that degree, than a Spartan can survive the fall from a building of some sort. I still think there needs to be some consequence for fall damage, not as much as in Reach, especially since there is no health.

I never even knew he had one in the first place, or even knew something like that existed. So then he doesn't count.

His armor was designed to withstand a lot of damage. Remember, they thought he was dead. He knocked himself out good. Spartan IV's are made cheaply. Their armor is likely not as well as John's is against falling. Still, I think Reach's fall damage was a bit much. I think the death height should be twice as high as it was for Reach. I never even knew he had one in the first place, or even knew something like that existed. So then he doesn't count. Yes, all through the mission, Noble 6 had a re-entry unit on his/her back in the cutscenes.
Tallgeese
I agree that Chief is a ba and his being a Spartan II makes a difference, but still being a spartan and wearing Mk armor will dissolve a certain amount of fall damage. I agree that Reach fall damage was extreme, if it is tuned down a bit it will make sense.
