Better ranking system

Please 343, consider the effect a better ranking system woul have on the community. A system like Reach's is tired and overdone. Halo 3 had the right idea with a brutal and challenging way to rank up. It was tough, rewarding, and fun.

I loved seeing brigadiers and generals and actually knowing they had skill based on their rank. Unlike in Reach's system where even the highest ranked players are hardly formidable opponents. It just doesn't make sense.

Everyone wants something for nothing nowadays, don't give in to this new casual trend.

The new ranking system of Halo 4 is indeed a hybrid of Reach and Halo 3. There will be a rank for ranked play lists, and an overall title of sorts that you earn from spartan points (xp/cR). So i could be a 45 but only a Field Marshal, while there could be a 40 who is an Inheritor. Both will please everyone I think. If you play ranked you will have a rank, if you play social you can use your title as a judge.

This info is nowhere to be found. Where did you get this impression?

I can immediately say that SP are not what help you rank up. You get XP based on kills, medals, etc. You only get a set amount of SP each time you rank up. See, you earn XP to rank up, and you get SP when you do rank up.

I do not know if you can rank down, but it seems likely that deaths, getting assassinated, etc would TAKE XP. That would be more realistic based on what 343 have shown and said. They stated, "1-50 numbers are not returning."

Therefore, what you have stated seems unlikely.

Ahh you are correct Ryu, let me explain, Frankie stated at ComicCon with the lead of the War Gsmes, that there is going to be a 1-50 'esque' system, it may not be numbers, it may be symbols or titles, etc. but there will be a system that in some sort of way can be associated with the old school 1-50 system of Halo 3. He also stated that only you the player can see your own Rank.

I should have clarified about the xp/Sp differences, you are also correct Ryu that as you play you gain Xp, similar to cR from Reach. and as you level up you earn Spartan Points to put towards weapons, armor, skins, loadouts etc.

Ah...I was wondering what the mess on "Ranked" playlists was all about.

It should be a hybrid of Reach's and Halo 3's systems, and make BPR the new measure of skill.

The BPR would actually be a good measure of skill. Good point on that Viva.

Any system will be exploited in some way and certain players will always buy high ranked accounts. If 343 tries to make a system that attempts to avoid cheating and account buying then they are naive to that fact.

Halo 2's system was the toughest to rank up in and most of the time showed a person's true skill but I liked how Halo 3's system combined playlist ranks with exp. Even though Halo 3's system had it's flaws, I think Bungie had the right idea with that. But overall the tougher system of Halo 2 showed somebody's true skill level.
