Halo 4 Needs An Awesome Trailer

Despite 0:52 - 1:07 and 1:42 - 1:55 being really dumb imo, this is a pretty fantastic trailer (also 1:21 - 1:42 what are they shooting at? Why would their SMGs be silenced? Guess our main character suffered from temporary blindness and didn't see that huge Brute standing in front of him lol.)

The boy's progression from seeing his father's funeral service (???), to joining the armed forces, to enduring the training hardships, to finally being in real combat, to being a hardened veteran being constantly thrust back into combat time and time again until it is second hand nature to him shows war from the ODST's point of view very well. It's exciting stuff and makes you want to be an ODST alongside the hero in the trailer fighting. You know adrenaline pumping fight for humanity type stuff in this new breed of war.

Overall my favorite Halo live action trailer.

Also the Halo 3 trailer was very good, but not live action. Again this is a progression trailer. It showcases Chief's humble origins to his attained Spartan badassness. "Not yet." Is the awesomeness over? NOT YET.

Both get you pumped.

This Forward Unto Dawn stuff just really isn't doing it for me.

I don't care what these kids think. It's that awkward confession room style speech as well. The barbers are way too gentle as well I mean come on. Socially I don't fit in? You get bullied? What is this... "I don't think I could ever kill another human being." Why did you join then, say hi to the insurrectionists.

This stuff is good I guess on its own, but there needs to be a good trailer with just the chief that gets people pumped for Halo 4.

"Stay close to me, I'm your best chance for survival." What?

How about "Follow my lead soldier, there's no time to waste." In that sexy low gravely voice?

This stuff is like teenage drama and to me is just flat out uninteresting. I thought we were exploring Chief's humanity more?

And when he says "Drive." Oh my God... Remember when he said "Punch it?" How about "Floor it." The Chief has lost his badass edge.

We need a Halo 4 trailer with Cortana and the Chief having like conversations in his head. Flashbacks to previous experiences they've had. Then him dramatically being woken up. Then him stepping out onto a ledge on the planet or something and seeing the huge sprawling world before him or something come on.

What do you guys think?

Well, I think it's fine. People are like that. They think they can't kill. Humans are timid creatures by nature. Once we figure out we might be able to out smart or overcome something, we become the most violent creature discovered in history. But at first, we are scared.

Chief may not sound the same, but I bet his actions will make up for it. We haven't seen enough to really judge. And now, from the books, I think this seems like the Chief I know.

There is a live action trailer for Halo 4. It leads into the EA stage Demo. As for the rest, the story is about a kid (teenager at best) who was pretty much pressured into joining the UNSC by his family, who eventually becomes a bad*** in his own right because Master Chief inspired him. This kid ends up on the Infinity, which is why his story is mentioned at all.

Also, I think your opinion on what MC says in the trailers is unfounded. You should take into account that he's talking to recruits, not soldiers, which is why he isn't as hard on them as he would be a battle hardened ODST. And nitpicking over "Drive"? Really? :/

I'm not a Halo guru or anywhere close. But I think Chief would be used to seeing soldiers bite it by the hundreds. I don't think he would pamper any new recruit at all by changing the tone of his voice... Or for that matter "play nice" to any fellow soldier, playing nice only softens them and could get them killed, which I'm sure he doesn't want at all. Going off of this I'd rather follow that drill sergeant in the ODST trailer than Chief if we are going on inspiration. You can't tell me "drive" sounded anywhere near badass. This is coming from the same soldier that said "Punch it" in Halo 1 and you put on your $#!? yea glasses at that point.

Depends on how you say drive lol And actually, at the time Chief wasn't all that experienced either. I'm not sure exactly when the date of this is, but it pretty much had to be before the Fall of Reach, which means it could be any time from when MC had his first combat with the covies up to the point where MC goes back to Reach to help defend it.

Also, back in those days it was more common for Spartans to work alone (in their own teams, mind you) rather than groups of Marines.

Punch it sounds dumb now, to me anyways.

The word choice to each their own, but it's his tone and inflection which has fallen off. When he says drive it sounds like he's being influenced by adrenaline and really wants the driver to go. When he says punch it, it's so casual and calm as the entire ship they are on could explode at any moment. I thought Spartans were like cold killing machines. When he says punch it you get a feeling that this extreme and intense scenario and environment has no emotional impact on him. Drive is... I don't know just not on par. Weak imo. Did the old voice actor quit or something?

Lol in FUD, MC is played by an actor. Not a voice actor. That's why his voice sounds different. The voice actor is enjoying his well earned break (and probably large paycheck) after H4.

Chief is wearing a helmet. They can dub over his voice to make it sound good. :good: The actor running in the suit doesn't automatically need to provide the voice as well since his face is covered. Eek. :X

But the voice actor is on vacation because of his long and arduous work on Halo 4! D: Plus he's old, he really needs his rest. :3

Steve Downes(Voice Of MC) Deserves his well earned break. Yeah, In Forward Unto Dawn they wouldnt put Steve Downes in a suit and make him do all that physical work after Halo 4. Hopefully what happens to michael ironside doesn't happen to Downes in the continuation of Halo. For anyone interested, michael ironside has not been chosen to portray sam fisher in the new splinter cell blacklist. Supposedly because of the physical acting required in the motion capture. Instead they chose younger actor Eric Johnson.

I don't mind the fact we have not had any trailers like the ones you've talked about, it adds greatly to the mystery, and allows my imagination to draw up a lot of scenarios. I like the suspense, the secrecy, it builds my excitement for when I get my hands on the game and experience what 343 have kept hidden from us!

Why on earth would they put Steve into the suit to be the physical actor?

Dude really? Youre worrying about how chief says "Drive!" instead of "punch it!"? Punch It sounds outdated, and how could've chief lost his badassness? He's only 15 years old when the FUD is taking place! He's probably the same age as Lasky. He's not a recruit, but you dont just step into Mjolinir armor and become a badass. He only got augmentations a year ago. If the spartan II's were determined as recruits and veterans based on how much action they've seen, chief would be a recruit. Daniel Cudmore, the actor portraying chief, isn't voicing him which you could tell if you've ever heard him talk. Someone else is, but I like his voice, it sounds like he will grow up to sound like what he does in the original trilogy. And I personally love the enlist trailer and how Lasky says " I don't think I can kill another human. Ever." reminds me that he won't have to because he'll be fighting covenant and eventually prometheans.
