Wes Stone501
If you had problems with the Rookie this will probably change it. My good friend Killer K34 showed me this piece of fan fiction. The Rookie by ActThree I closed my eyes and sighed contently as my wife’s fingers traced along the scars burned into the flesh of my chest. I enjoyed her gentle touch as my hands glided across her smooth, warm skin on the small of her back. I kissed her hair and whispered quietly in her ear. “I love you Danielle.” She rested her head on my chest; I could feel her lips spread into a smile between us. “I love you too...” She said, “And I always will.” Danielle lifted her head to meet my gaze, her heart-melting grin finally revealed to me. I always loved her smile, and her silvery eyes took my breath away. I stared down at her and saw the truth in her eyes. The unwavering affection in them seemed to burn right through. She truly loved me. I smiled and closed my eyes again, relishing her closeness. Then suddenly, the air grew cold, I felt a sharp yank and no longer felt her weight on me. I only felt a painful tugging on my right arm. I opened my eyes and before me was my wife, cleaving to my arm for dear life as groaning maw of space tore at us. I was clothed now, clad in my UNSC issue ODST armor. Something’s wrong. I remembered this… My concentration was broken as her silvery eyes widened and locked on me. They no longer held love, only fear and desperation. “Don’t let me fall!” She screamed, her voice barely audible over the roar of air. Danielle yelped as another plasma torpedo slammed into the UNSC Ellison’s starboard side, ripping the hole even more. My grip tightened on the metal support beam. Her grip tightened around my arm. We heard another groan, this time from behind and watched as the beam started to bend under the strain. The air’s temperature rapidly dropped as the hole in the ships hull got bigger. I shouted into my COM. “We’ve got a massive breach in the ship’s hull. How long until the airlock closes?!” There was no response and the beam bent more. Danielle’s grip loosened. Had the cold gotten to her? I looked back at my wife. She closed her eyes and her face calm. My pulse quickened and my heart pounded with a combination of fear and sadness. I called out to her. “No… Don’t. Just wait! Baby, no wait. Just wait baby please! They’re gonna fix this!” The metal beam sagged more and cracks formed at its joints. Danielle opened her eyes, now filled with tears. I could hardly make out what she was saying as I pleaded with her to wait. I blinked away the tears in time to watch her lips mouth the words she said to me not long after we met. “I love you… and I always will.” She released my hand and was sucked into the vacuum of space. I cried out after her, my hand out stretched. “Danielle!” But she was gone. The blast doors closed behind her. The beam broke. I woke with a start. Disoriented, I looked around and made out a face leaning over me. “Wake up buttercup.” The ODST chuckled and walked to the other side of the dimly lit room. Another trooper walked over smiling, and handed me a Silenced Submachine gun. My mind was still reeling from the memories my dream held. And by the time it settled down I only caught the last of his words. “… It pays to be the strong, silent type.” I stowed my weapon away and waited to drop, still thinking of my loss. I’m never going to see my wife again. My Danielle… But, now wasn’t the time to dwell on the past. Danielle had hers and I still have mine. And it’s to make each one of those Covenant ******** regret the day they took her away from me. I will get the source asap.
