Chapter 1: White Hills of Thievery

"Are you sure he gave you the right one?"

"Yes, he does not lie."

SykoWolf looked across the table at his best pal, Azaxx. He couldn't help but wonder if Azaxx was right. Maybe the old coot at the bazaar had given him the wrong riddle-map. No matter, he had the legends from his childhood within his heart. He would find his way.

"Azaxx, I know you wish me fair health in this venture" SykoWolf said, "you have always been my friend, and for that, I will try my best to return safely."

"Syko, you had better live up to that promise," Azaxx demanded, "I won't lose any friends to fairy-tales!" SykoWolf bade his friend farewell and left with a heavy heart, out and into the cold of Bruma. Of all the places, he thought, Azaxx had to choose the cold reaches of Bruma as their meeting place. SykoWolf knew Imperials didn't belong in this terrible cold.

Once outside the gates, SykoWolf had but one last destination before the badlands of Elsweyr. The old, almost forgotten tavern in the far, back corner of Skingrad. Unless he wished to leave without a decent weapon, he needed to pause there long enough to meet The Peacekeeper. His name was full of irony due to the fact that he was a master of metal-working. A blacksmith. He had a special item for SykoWolf at his shop. Unfortunately, his shop was in Leyawiin. Thus, the reason for meeting him in Skingrad. SykoWolf had heard that The Peacekeeper was a concise old fellow, preferring actions over words. Maybe he could-

"Imperial, you have wandered into my territory! Now, you must pay with everything you have!"

SykoWolf quickly snapped to reality and looked in the direction of the voice. Before him stood an old Imperial fort, crumbling with the passing of time. The voice came from a small but muscular Nord in leather armor. A bandit. Where there is one, there are ten waiting to sneak out and finish you off. Luckily, SykoWolf had a blade handy. The bandit charged as if he were wearing the sturdiest steel from the Skyforge. The one weakness that his armor didn't compensate for? He was slow. He swung diagonally at SykoWolf but he dodged as if it were a slow rock coming at him. This angered the man even more.

"You think you can bob and weave all day? You will tire, and I will run you through!" The bandit was swinging full speed as fast and hard as he could. SykoWolf began to laugh.

"What's so funny, milk drinker?"

"I'm surprised you haven't noticed the reason your swings are slower than any one I have seen to date! Look at your left shoulder." SykoWolf grinned as the bandit looked and began to scream as he saw the jet of blood streaming from his arm. Too bad, he thought, he still has his arm, but not his life. SykoWolf lunged forward and thrusted his already bloody blade into the man's chest. One less tattered soul to ruin this world, he thought to himself. That man screaming and yelling as he did must have alerted the others. He quickly darted to the nearest tree and grabbed the lowest branch. With one swift pull, he launched himself to the heart of the tree. He hid and waited. Eventually, the rest came and searched the area for two hours before finally giving up and looting their own fallen comrade. How ironic. A bandit, looted. He grinned at the thought. Even though a man just died, he likely needed it. No telling how many innocent souls died and lost their livelyhood to this man alone. SykoWolf dismounted half an hour after the last bandit disappeared into the bowels of the fort. He had a long trek to reach Skingrad. Unfortunately, he was still within the snowy hills of County Bruma. He laughed at the realization and continued on his journey.

More to come.

I am just posting this here since the competition thread isn't a great place to read. Especially since I am making this into a series.
