Unlockable Weapon/Armor Skins

After reviewing the breakdown of each Specialization, I realize that trekking through each one will unlock certain armor, armor skins, weapon skins, etc, after ranking up levels 1 through 10 pertaining to specific permutations.

 

My question: will this be the only way to unlock these customizations? It seems as if each Specialization unlocks 1 skin for 1 weapon or 1 piece of armor. How about all the other skins?

 

I'm hoping that there are imbedded customization challenges (almost like Commendations from Reach) that, after hitting a certain goal, will unlock said-permutations.

 

I.E. "Minigun - Kill an enemy with a Secondary Weapon"

• 100 kills unlocks _____ skin for Magnum
  
• 250 kills unlocks _____ skin for PP
  
• 500 kills unlocks _____ skin for Boltshot
  

...and so on. I just figured there must be a different way to be proud of what you're wearing beside earning a skin through playing the game a lot, or preordering it from a certain company.

 

Edit: I just remembered that Xbox Achievements may play a role in unlocking certain customizations.

I do like this idea better than you saving up Spartan Points to buy a skin. It can show that you have skill with that weapon other than you can play 300 games and only get 20 kills with it.
