Comander Melander
Ive been scouring the internet for Halo 4 vids since Saturday for new information from Pax, and Ive seen the Thruster and Jetpack used in multiplayer but they seemed to be used up far to quickly. I had hoped since Thruster pack had replaced Evade from Reach it would have a two time usage before running out, however its one and done then takes about 6 seconds for it to recharge. On top of that it seems to move you a shorter distance then one would think be use full. As far as the Jetpack goes, its is much shorter the Reach's, way too short too, very limited use, to about getting on a ramp instead of walking around the front kinda of use, not very awesome but I hope they change that for the launch. Cuz Thruster pack sounded sweet and now I dont even think Id use it that much in gameplay. It might not be as bad when you play it but from watching both of them being used they dont look to long. Anyone else feel the same way?
Tallgeese
I disagree...i am glad they changed the jet Pack. It was too Op in Reach and changed the flow of the game. Now the Jet Pack flows well with the game. I like the fact that it is just a burst in the air to get to a somewhat higher place, now you cant fly around all day.

Yep it was a pain in reach now it will be used as a movement tool not to hover in the air for ages shooting everyone in sight
Comander Melander
Isnt that kinda the point though? Why dont they make anti grav boots then? Because thats weak, instead its called jetpack cuz you fly around and shoot people. Its was awesome especially for maps like Uncaged that were too " linear " I guess one would say, and would keep replaying it from getting boring, ex. catwalk catwalk catwalk man cannon catwalk. So I dissagree with your incompliance of my dissapointment
EliteSniper
Maybe they will just increase the boost but limit the energy, i don't know but it sounds fair with me.
Tallgeese
I agree...the jet pack in Halo 4 looks fair to me so far. Nothing really says that a jet pack has to allow the user to fly around all day, a nice boost to higher position is all thats needed. Essentially its a boost jump which I like. I am not a fan of the jet pack in reach, and I never will be. I am glad 343i listened to the community and at least worked it in to flow with the matches more evenly now.
Stealth Pilot
OMG OP is Commander Melander. Pre-Game Lobby FTW. (Silent Pete is my favorite)
RoosterTeethFan
id rather it was under powered then over powered like in reach.

I like the limitations as well, but if they limit it anymore, I'll be sad. I was a fan of it, but knew it's OPedness. The Jet Pack was for reaching higher places, not a single-and-a-half jump. As long as I can't trick jump as high as I can Jet Pack, I can live with it. I do think that Jet Pack's recharge shouldn't be overly long, but definitely longer than Reach's. So far, 343 is trying to set it in the right place and is almost there, if not already there. I do disagree with one thing, however. Jet Pack should not seem like a vertical Thruster Pack. IRL, Jet Packs are used to hover and fly, and in combat, I can see it being reduced, but not to a simple single boost.
Tallgeese
Well as we all saw in Reach...those who hover and fly become giant targets and die rather quickly. So in a combat situation, I can see where 343i is trying to make it a boost in the air.
Comander Melander
I think the difference in opinion is like Tallgeese said, its movement based and some people are fine with that, but I would like to use the Thruster and Jet Pack in more of an Assault kinda of style. Especially the Thruster Pack, in its form now its more geared toward Dodging a rocket, Grenade, Ghost, and maybe Melee sort of Deffensive/Movement where as I heard about it and thought, ' thatd be sick in a one on one BR fight, people dodging back and forth to get the last Headshot.' I also agree with RYU HAYABUSA, that its redundant to just make the Jetpack a Vertical boost because the controller scheme would make it hard to go Upwards with the Thruster Pack on. I liked REACH's Jetpack and the only thing I wanted to see changed about it was faster Lift capabilities and only thought it was overpowered when someone had a Rocket with it, much like the Sword and Sprint. Unease Peanut
They have refit the jetpack to have more of a higher jump effect not the floating around in mid air like in reach

It should be used for map movement and not height advantage OMG OP is Commander Melander. Pre-Game Lobby FTW. Ryu♥Hayabusa
Just glad I can still "fly". Hope I can get pretty high with it. Wonder what It'd be like with unlimited AA usage...
Tallgeese
It seems like you can get pretty high, but it runs out of juice fast so you cant hover all day. It seems like if you want to get to a higher position, you have to aim for it.
killerdude1635
I don't see how the jet pack in reach was OPed, like you get no advantage at all, other then being able to move vertically. Infact, in a combat situation, the jetpack is more disadvantage then an advantage, because your in mid flight with NO cover. I used the jet pack SOLELY on spire to cushion my fall from the top... Tallgeese
it wasnt necessarily OP, it alowed you to get to places that really you shouldnt be able to, places that have an out of bounds timer, but the jet packer found a spot where the timer disappears etc. It also ruined the flow of the game, a player jet packing takes up more time to focus on than someone sprinting or evading away or into combat. Boss Bowser
I really liked evade, but sadly 343 listens to the community and BOOM its gone, hopefully the new abilities aren't used to quickly
killerdude1635
Evade was like the only way to safely combat a tank without heavy weapons..
Tallgeese
Evade has essentially been evolved into Thruster Pack. Which btw, from the PAX videos appears to be awesome, combined with sprint
The Director
Evade was like the only way to safely combat a tank without heavy weapons.. Kind of defeats the purpose of a tank if you can safely combat it without heavy weapons though, doesn't it? lol Honestly, Jetpacking annoyed me more than AL. Mainly because a jetpacker could get their hands on a sniper and then glitch their way into a spot that isn't normally in the map (like ledges and crannies). Tallgeese
I fully agree Director, Jet pack was worse than AL
Ryu♥Hayabusa
See, that happened, what? 20% of the time on a bad day? I think those arguments are valid, but relatively far fetched. The things Jet Pack was nerfed for hardly ever happened. Either way, it can still get misused as all AA's. All we have to have is time to learn to jump.
Tallgeese
Learning to jump with the added Boost of the Jet Pack will not even come close to its misuse in Reach. It really is just a tool to get to a higher platform or ledge etc.
upton889
I'm so glad they toned down the jetpack. If no armor ability is overpowered (like many were in Halo Reach) the gameplay will be better and more balanced.
