OrangeSpartan
In halo 4 when you pick up a flag you will be holding the flag and a magnum (flagnum).i find it a bit random that when both your primary and secondary weapons are NOT magnums it randomly gives you one to use out of nowhere when your using the flag. i rather have it so when you are holding small weapons (boltshot, magnum and plasma pistol) you will be able to shoot those while holding the flag. So tell me do you think the flagnum is a little random? -OrangeSpartan
Minuette
I'm pretty sure they will change it to something like that, but if you don't have a pistol in your weapon slots then I think it will just be placed as a magnum
INACTIVE
My personal belief is that a spartan would always have a sidearm on him at all times. Just because you can't use it doesn't mean it isn't there.

Archangel Tyrael
I agree, we should be able to choose Boltshot, Plasma Pistol and the Magnum. I think they will do this though. It would seem pretty stupid if they didn't.
Ryu♥Hayabusa
The flagnum is technically a weapon itself. Meaning it has it's own ammo, damage, and yadda yadda yadda. Though, it has infinite ammo. Also, this means it wouldn't be likely that we get to use the boltshot, PP, or other sidearms with it.
Twinreaper
I'm gonna be the party pooper and say that it should be left as magnum only. Look, if we could choose different weapons based on what we have at the time of grabbing the flag, it would make for a pretty unbalanced time. Any weapon that you have could in theory be used one handed...like the Rocket launcher. You only need one hand to steady it on your shoulder, or even the spartan laser for that matter. Giving the Flag carrier only a magnum to defend himself with, makes perfect sense since they have taken away the juggling and and made the carrier faster. This gives teams a better chance to get the carrier, and forces the teams to use mroe active comms and teamwork to keep the carrier safe. Soemthing that is often overlooked in CTF these days.
DoctorB77
I would like to see all of the spartans have the flagnum on their body while in the CTF game. So they do not just pull it out of thin air.
iTz Vplus2
Even when you do have a Magnum as your secondary, the Flagnum you get when holding the flag won't be that exact same Magnum. Because the Flagnum will be slightly more powerful than the regular Magnum. So yes, this may be a bit random, but it's the best way to go in this situation. dinodares
well, I guess that if someone had a pp on them or were using firepower package, that would be unfair to the flag carries if he only had a pp against everyone. I think that the flag might have a magnum with it and the Spartans use that because, hey, infinite ammo and damage increase. just a thought
Shokyr
343i is never going to be able to please everybody..while I think the 'Flagnum' idea is great, some are going to have problems with it. So maybe they'd put a pistol on your hip to only use in CTF, but them somebody else would start complaining about how it's there and you can't use it. It's truly a vicious cycle that isn't going to end, so I just figure it's easiest to accept what they've got and move on.
DarknessX03
As Angel of Death said, it's probably just that every Spartan has an extra Magnum laying around. They're small enough.

DarknessX03
This, but if you have a secondary one-handed weapon it should switch to that instead in my opinion. Yeah, I agree with that over just having a Magnum without a choice for another weapon.
mACca431
I think they should put a magnum like magnetically attached to the flag pole that you grab when you pick up the flag. But honestly you guys are just nit picking. True it is a bit random but it really doesnt matter. And it shouldnt change to whatever sidearm you have for a couple of reasons A)The magnum is the most effective sidearm against spartans especially if you get headshots except for the boltshot which would totally destroy up close. B)If they had the boltshot they would be unstoppable if it was close quarters and some people would be so nooby that they would camp with the flag and boltshot. C) The PP would get destroyed in most situations completely ruining the aim of the flagnum in the first place. Which was to give the Flag carrier a weapon that was an all rounder that with skill and a bit of luck they could effectively defend themselves
Jay_Magnus
I wonder if Halo 4 has Oddball, and the same thing happens. Skullnum.
Robius5991
Maybe on the side of the flag they might add a small holster where the magnum would be. I know this would be impractical and probably not within the game, but it would be one way to explain where the magnum comes from. If not, I agree with the other theory discussed in the thread, that the soldier would have his magnum on his person somewhere, even if it's not his primary of secondary weapon. Perhaps it should be placed somewhere on the body like the knife is. Just a thought.
Ryu♥Hayabusa
Yeah, no one complains that we can't use the knife unless we are behind a player, but they complain we can't use the powerful flagnum unless we pick up a flag. Sadly true.
Sierra1117
It reminds me of a spartan carrying a pistol and a briefcase, so it doesn't seem that random
