Konshens
Is it just me or does anyone else think it would be a great idea to make more halo games based on separate stories for each different kind of spartan? When I say each different kind of spartan, I mean each different helmet. They already made Halo odst, they should make halo cqb, and halo recon, and a halo for every helmet with its own storyline. This way halo would not run out of games for a while and can become more interesting, seeing different story lines of great spartans other than master chief. Kestrel
No more spartans, I have been playing halo from the begininng. I personally had enough of spartans. In my opinion no, it should be based off a Marines or a Soldiers POV not another Spartan or ODST.
Konshens
but if it was based off a marine or soldier wouldn't it be just like call of duty or any other war shooting game? the whole point of halo is the story of the spartans... Father B
I just want to start by saying that this is only my opinion. I dont mean to come off rude, and I'm not trying to be, so please just bear with me. =) I believe the basis of the Halo games, originally, was the story of Humanity's struggle to survive against increasingly difficult odds, in this case versus Civil War, then the Covenant, then The Flood, and coming to a climax with the end of the threat of the Halo arrays (if they are, indeed, no longer a threat). Anyway, it was a nice thought, but the helmets themselves mean next to nothing. Technically, any Spartan-II could wear, for example, Recon; but it's just a helmet and doesn't make him/her a stealth specialist by Spartan standards. You know? They do, however, make mention of other Spartan-II teams, like Grey Team, whose members and missions have gone unnoticed or unknown. Or perhaps their stories have simply been told through a different media (ie: comic books/graphic novels). Either way, I wouldn't mind seeing/reading their stories or playing them out. Honestly, though, I wouldn't mind seeing things through the eyes of a regular Human Marine. They made H3: ODST great, but we were still on our own for about half the game and I still felt like a bit of a Spartan-II (okay, maybe a Spartan-III). What I'm thinking about is a real squad-based FPS. Marines always work in squads or fireteams (partly because if they didn't, they would die upon engaging hostile Covvies) so it would be perfect for co-op and Multiplayer gameplay. In a nutshell: my opinion is that the story of Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 is the greatest story ever told, as far as the Spartan projects go; thus, there should be no dire need for another game with a Spartan as the main protagonist. The bar had been set with CE. If they do make another without Master Chief as the player-character, it better be very, very good. I mean an 11 on a 1 to 10 scale. Anyway, I'm going to stop before I go off on a tangent. Again, nice idea. It just doesn't constitute a story to tell on its own, but maybe someone else will disagree with me. Either way, take 'er easy and have fun. =D See you around the site.

Thats true, its what makes halo unique.

Kestrel
K, Im just done with spartans. Im fine with Soldiers or Marines even if they die with one shot.
Father B
If it were based on a Marine's POV, we'd die faster than a soldier on CoD on Veteran mode. o.o That's a bit of an assumption. Remember: Marines work as a team, and a team is more valuable than the sum of its parts. Sure, a single Marine would get pwned pretty fast, but a team working together to employ skill and tactics could, and has, beat the odds in the Haloverse. Konshens
But wouldn't it be cool if they made a standalone game like odst for Kurt051 he was a spartan like John117 but supposedly his team would win against the chief's in training because kurt has a "sixth sense." i think it would be cool, he was a super soldier just like john. Father B
You obviously know a fair bit of the Halo canon, Kon. And it would be fun to see Kurt-051 doing his thing. But you have to know that almost all of the S-2's had a "special trait". For Kurt it was his sixth sense. Kelly's was preturnatural speed, even for a S-2. Linda's was an impossibly steady nerve that let her make shots no one else could. And I might be confusing these ones, but I think Samuel's was incredible strategizing and Fred's was incredible strength… come to think of it, I'm sure at least one of those is wrong. But you get my point. =x Well, what makes John-117 special is the fact that he really isn't all that special with regards to special traits. He's one of the few S-2's who were actually pretty plain, except for one thing: he is impossibly lucky. I guess what I'm saying is that it would kind of be like cheating. You know? Master Chief: no aids. Kurt: big aids. …no puns…
Infinite LuLz
No please, stay with the chief. You may want it, but as soon as someone doesn't say "chief" in every sentence, over half of the community goes all: "OMG I will never play halo again its ruined!" BraverKING514
Marines, No offence, would be awful. If you are "done" with Spartans then go play CoD. It would not work, especally with the flood. Just watch the Mona Lisa on waypoint, you'll see what I mean. ODSTs are fine as long as the storyline for them is improved. THE WHOLE POINT OF HALO, IS NOT THE SPARTANS. God. The whole point of Halo is introducing a brilliant new Universe to the community known as world. OH YEAH, IS GUNNA BE LOIKE COD LADDIES. No its not, thats just your pathetic mind putting together two brain cells and comparing two good different games. both with well-developed multiplayers and storylines... I don't understand this petty rivalry between the two.
