upton889
This is the biggest question for me. Can casual and competitive players efficiently coexist in Halo 4 matchmaking? It's safe to say that Halo Reach failed in hybridizing the two with gameplay geared towards the casual players. Casual and competitive players are paired in all playlists, which makes for a sub-par Halo experience. Me being a competitive player, I would like to see both types of players find common ground and if that could happen, it would be the best thing for Halo 4. I also think 343 is heading in the right direction on this goal. Do you think both types of players can coexist? Do you think 343 is going in the right direction? Any thoughts appreciated. Spectral Jester
I think as long as the matchmaking is skill based or as skill based as is possible, then all will be well, truskill is very hard to determine especially with boosters. Id define myself as a casual online gamer, I play to enjoy, do my best and enjoy the laugh and chat online with friends
Ryu♥Hayabusa
Yes they can. But the only way to be sure is to make social playlists. By that, I mean, two versions of each playlist instead of Halo 3's version. SWAT only in Ranked? Why? (See my point?) I think Halo 4 can do it, but meshing them together can mess it up. More specific playlists would be great too. That way idgits won't quit because they wanted to camp on Sword Base DMR's.
iTz Vplus2
I think that competitive gamers are always going to walk all over casual gamers. Why wouldn't that happen anyways?
upton889
I think as long as the matchmaking is skill based or as skill based as is possible, then all will be well I very much agree. I've advocated this improvement for Halo 4 for a long time. Halo 4 needs that skill-based system. Yes they can. But the only way to be sure is to make social playlists. By that, I mean, two versions of each playlist instead of Halo 3's version. Definitely. We've discussed that kind of issue before and I think that would probably be the best idea. The big question is do you seperate both types of players or try to combine them? I think both players are more satisfied with their own playlists. I think that competitive gamers are always going to walk all over casual gamers. Why wouldn't that happen anyways? You're probably right about that as far as competition goes. I'm not sure if you can truly combine the two player types to play in the same matchmade games but I think 343 is taking the right steps in accomodating both players. Tallgeese
I agree with Ryu, if there are 2 versions of each playlist (Ranked and Social) than yeah competitive and casual can co-exist. As far as competitive players walking all over casual players...I do not fully agree. I have played competitively, and now I play more casual, I still do well against competitive players and really well against casual players. The only difference is that I dont care as much if I am losing, if I am having fun with my friends than what do I care lol
iTz Vplus2
2 versions of every playlist? I think that would be a bit too much. Maybe 2 versions of the most popular playlists would be better. Or of the playlists where it is neccessary. I don't see how a Flood/Infection playlist would need ranked and social, for example.
Tallgeese
Thats true...I agree that 2 versions of the most popular playlists would make sense. 2 versions of flood would not make sense, I think 2 versions of swat, slayer, btb etc would be cool
Ryu♥Hayabusa
2 Swat, objective, slayer, btb, etc. "They need more specific playlists anyway"...like SWAT objective, BTB slayer, and BTB objective.
U4ix
Yea they have to make it somewhat the same as Halo 3, Ranked and Social. In ranked you get your skill level and social is for social casual players. Both social and ranked playlists should have the same playlists though. These are my thoughts.
