Silent Orbis
They're almost the same. The only difference is that the chrome one has indented, more comfortable joysticks and has a transformer d-pad. In my opinion, pay the extra $10 bucks for a nicer feeling and looking one. One thing though, the red and blue are darker than the picture looks, and look more like plastic. Also, it's not really chrome plated, it's just shiny and looks like it. PureNomad
I went with chrome, though do we really need masses of changes the original pads still a damned good controller in my opinion. Was much better than the oversized house brick that was the original xbox pad.
Wrath
I picked up my chrome controller about a week ago and the feel is a lot better, I also think the transforming D-Pad is a nice touch. However, if you don't want to throw in an extra 10$ for a nicer controller you're not going to experience any problems with the older controller. MyLittleJihad
I've had the chrome controller a while now. The transformable D-pad is nice, though admittedly I've had a bit of trouble with it. It can be overly sensitive somestimes, causing it to trigger the wrong button. For example - hitting the down d-pad, though it seems to think you've hit the right d-pad. Nonetheless, it's a hell of a lot better than the original controller, in my opinion. Worth the exta money. Blacklight
I've had the original Xbox 360 Controller I got 4 Years ago. And still working to this day. Any Xbox controller is fine for me! as long as it's the Microsoft one. I cannot stand the 3rd part ones. They make me sad inside.
Lancer
If you're okay with adapting to something new, chrome is the way to go. Much more comfortable.
Adam151
I have a chrome one and three originals and I can tell you there's no difference apart from a moving d-pad and esthetic appeal. I only got one because I like having shiny things ^__^

Twinreaper
Suprisingly, no one even mentioned the fact that you get a nice charge n play cable along with an actual rechargable battery pack....no messy AA bats to change out. Just plug and go....and the controller is a beast too.
