Gives the antagonist an insight to who John is and what he's been through. One thing to add...compared to the size of Chief, the new enemy is HUGE!!! The trailer serves as a good 'entry point' for new players, which gives them a brief perspective on the protagonist, as well as a glimpse of the possible antagonist.
