Pros/Cons of the "NEW" and "IMPROVED" Forge

Recommended Posts

I have yet to purchase Halo 4 but I am dissatisfied with 343 When they made the desision to separate forge world into 3 smaller and more confined maps In Halo 3 I created the first infection manor you may have played on the map possibly I tried to replicate that map into Halo Reach but the infection game type stopped being popular as Halo 3 and Bungie stopped using player designed maps and stuck to regular maps instead.I have played Halo 4 and am slightly disappointed when It comes to the new Forge aspect of he game. Also in Reach I was both happy and sad to see the changes they made to forge the big change they made in Reach was that they started making forge more user friendly witch in veterans eyes I started to see Forge more as a game type as in Halo 3 I saw forge as a "game" you had to play it for a long time and learn its secrets before crafting somthing impressive I spent much more time one 3s Forge than Reachs by a long shot. The reason I'm saying this is due to he fact that when I first sat down to play Reach it took me a hour to build somthing that in 3 would take me a day and I liked that but in 3 when I created a house it was more impressive because of what it was than vs what it is now in Reach now I find my self crafting models of the Titanic,USG Ishimora and the statue of liberty and making them into playable maps but those only take me about a week and playing only acouple hours a day to finalize.

The new maps don't seem to have enough room to build what I enjoy building I love to create invirements in my maps but these maps seem to already include that inviroment I enjoy creating I am happy to see some new tools but for veterans I am starting to find it to easy to forge it use to take practice now it takes nothing to build a cool map which is good for beginners but for me I don't see myself forging as much because it would take to Long to create a impressive map that is "one of a kind" for example someone can tell that a expirianced forger made it but it can be done I am more exited to see what new maps are created by new forgers it's not perfect maps that im looking for its perfect ideas that make those maps into somthing else

if your thinking of buying halo 4 for custom games and forge then don't do it. in flood weapons on the map are PERMANENTLY disabled meaning there is no way to change this. You also cant customize flood loadouts, they are set and impossible to change. Its also impossible to change the flood in any way shape or form, for example in halo 3 you could give them different weapons and such. This is not the case in halo 4, flood are set up to work one certain way and you can only make small tweaks such as dmg movement and shields. Pretty much the game modes are extremely stiff and were not made with custom game types in mind, and without that (In my opinion at least) there is no point to forge.

If its space you're looking for then yes there is a HUGE lack of that.

But the player traits zone, gravity zone, and objective spawner, I have yet to try out, but it seems like they're very underestimated by previous forge developers. Also I feel the locking of pieces, while not necessary, is EXTREMELY helpful in making complex objects.
