Big Team Slayer vs Slayer

When I play matchmaking, if I play Slayer it's generally Big Team Slayer. However, the past couple of days I've been playing a little more normal Slayer. I know they are both slayer game types, but the game themselves pan out completely different. I don't claim to be amazing at Big Team Slayer, but I'm usually near the top on my team. But on Slayer the opposite is true. I struggle with it.

Part of the reason is that I'm simply not familiar with the maps. That is something that comes with time. However the other part I"m just not used to, is how people play the Slayer match. It's weird to see shotguns being utilized. In Big Team Slayer that very rarely happens.

The TEAM in a normal team slayer is much more important. In Big Team Slayer you can have someone do really bad and still win. Not the case in normal Team Slayer. If one person does bad, your entire team will suffer. It's a lot harder to carry dead weight, when the teams are smaller.

I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing. Did I miss anything?

Yes, you are correct. Smaller teams make each players individual contribution much more important.
