Forge 3.0 Ideas and suggestions

The Halo4 Forge is by all means an improvement over the previous Forges, but there is still room for improvement. I have started this post to list my own suggestions, and I encourage others to reply with his or her own suggestions and wishes.

*Interlocking objects: Similar to locking individual objects, a new tool would allow forgers to link objects. This would allow multiple objects to be moved, duplicated or locked as a group.

*Sphere object shape:

*Multi-leveled forging: Forge should have a novice/beginner setup (such as it is currently) and an advanced/Experienced setting with much more complicated tools and functions for advanced users.

*Man Cannons: Make one man cannon, but add a dial tool for adjusting the power more dynamically.

*Inversion: A tool option that allows the user to mirror certain objects such as the ramped platform, buildings, etc. This would help forgers create much better symmetrical maps.

*Skins/object color: Ability to add skins/textures to objects. There could be a distribution collection and a way for players to upload custom made textures.

*Improve the magnet system to be more dynamic, or perhaps allow users to add magnet markers to objects.

*Phased Doors: This object would allow forgers to add a door opening (variable sizes) cut into objects, such as blocks and coliseum walls/windows.

*Elevator lifts

*Light bridges: Similar to one sided shields, add light bridges to bridges/platforms. Perhaps it would be similar to setting length/width as it is with kill zones, etc?

*Locking axis: Ability to lock certain aspects of the rotation axis to isolate specific object movements.

*More buildings and expanded object inventory.

That is basicly my dream wishlist for Halo's Forge mode. With simple tools like those, the forge community would be able to make true masterpieces, limited only by ones own imagination.

The only additions I could think of would be bringing back fine tuning (not sure why it was removed to begin with, and terrain editing. Maybe an option to adjust the day/night cycle, and weather conditions along with that. Oh, and this might be asking for a little too much, but how about bots to fight? Add spawn locations for groups of enemies, and then let the community make firefight maps. That would be epic

Bring back firefight and design your own fire fight maps!!!

YES!! doors to be opened with switches.

or by walking in front of it, although that could lead to glitches...

I say the next forge give you the ability to change the environment type. for instanse, from snow to desert.

Also, they should improve the magnet system by making it so that you can toggle magnets on not just for all items, but for individual items as well.

and hills, cliffs, background, old forerunner junk, etc.

Dead bodies! More scenery options! AI's!(With programable reactions/voices) AA wraiths, more air vehicles!(like the pelican) adjustable (however you spell it) map sizes! Grid colors! (so you can acually see them!!)

with the door thingy, you should be able to move the switch around so you can find it!

Great suggestions guys. I know they want to keep it simple, though I used to play a game called Tanarus years ago, which had a map-making program. It was bare bones compared to Forge, and rather simple, but you could do some amazing things with the limitations, and you could import and create your own textures. Creating weather conditions, day/night, dusk/dawn, fog, rain, wind, would be nice, as well as including other common objects found in the campaign and Spartan Ops. I left out many of my obscure thoughts and tried to keep it realistic (one obscure idea is to allow us to manipulate the dimensions of objects to an extent--at least blocks, bridges/platforms and natural. At times I want to create bridges connections that don't line up due to terrain, and twisting a bridge or block would come in handy. And with rocks, it would be nice to manipulate the dimensions for various purposes).

One thing I forgot to mention, and this is perhaps most relevant, is in the H4 Forge they removed the monitor scope and the precision object moving options. That is a bummer, esp when trying to make special setups with overhanging objects that pushes the monitor view way out. My solution to this issue is to log in a guest and keep the guest close in while I line things up.

I agree with the magnets suggestion. I would love to be able to place magnet markers on objects manually, and inactivate some if need be--they are not always set to where I need them to be, though I must say they are perhaps the best improvement to the Forge in my opinion. Thanks, 343.
