Armor Unlocks Fail

I like the system of unlocking armor for completing certain commendations, but I feel like, yet again, 343 dropped the ball. Almost ALL of the armors that you can unlock via commendations are just "special" versions of armors that you can unlock via much easier methods. These "special" version are the exact same except for a few stripes in different patterns, something that you can't even notice without really paying very close attention. I don't see the purpose of grinding a certain commendation to unlock something that basically is the same as what everyone else already has. Its impossible to go through the pregame lobby and go "oh look, that guy has that really rare helmet, he must be really good at X"

I feel the same way. I don't really care about different patterns on a set of armor. I wish it was a little more like Reach. Where the extra pieces to the same sets had different things on them like the helmets. There's barely any leg and forearm armor pieces. Wish there was armor effects as well. Miss those from Reach.

So. People complained about not enough customisation like legs. You get them and complain? Pathetic.

343 has added a huge amount of unique armour pieces. And skins are fine.

And commendations? You haven't provided much of an alternative. So good job there.

You dont unlock armor as such you unlock skins for the armor and i think its good you can tell what skin you have depending on your colour scheme I think this is great aswell as the stances you unlock.

To unlock NEW armor simply get higher rank and complete specializations so you get skins and armor

Yet again you probably just read the title then when straight to the reply section.

An alternative? How about not having basically two pieces of the same armor, one that you basically get for free and another that you can unlock, and let people unlock actually unique armors by completing commendations or whatnot.

I definitely hear you. There are only a few pieces where there's actually a big difference. It's kind of pointless, going out of your way getting something that's nearly impossible to complete, for an extra stripe.

He's not saying anything about the legs..? He's not complaining about the lack of armor pieces, he's saying the skins aren't worth the hassle. They look okay, but other than when you're at the map voting screen, no one will ever notice. I don't get why you shot this thread down, he's simply saying it's not worth it half the time. If you got complete weapon mastery for Covenant Loadouts (example, I don't have the game on so I don't know what to compare it to), would you be satisfied with an extra stripe on your armor? I don't think that's worth hundreds of games trying to get kills with nothing but a Carbine, Storm Rifle, Plasma Grenade, and heaven forbid, Plasma Pistol >.>
