Halo: Reach No Longer In Continuity?

I have not played Halo 4 yet, but found out that in the opening, there is a brief scene with DR Halsey giving Cortana to the Chief. This breaks continuity with Halo: Reach, and is in line with the novel Fall of Reach. Does this mean that Halo 4 follows the events of the novel? I also heard that Eric Nylund works for 343 as well. Can anyone confirm this stuff? I think it would be great to have novel Fall of Reach back in the time line again, it was the best of the novels.

halo 4 takes placce 4 years after the fall of reach after halo 3 chief is stuck abord the unsc foward unto dawn but he incounters a fortrunner planet and the greatest threat in the galaxy inside

Reach takes place before Halo 3. Halo 4 is 4 or 5 years after. Cant remember. But I think they are gonna follow the novel's. And as for Eric Nylund working for 343 im not sure. But if I find anything out about it I will be sure to let you know.

Halo: Reach takes place before Halo CE actually, and no that game did not follow the books (it should have though, would have been much better) and no Halo 4 does not follow Halo Reach.

I thought the whole noble 6 giving Keyes cortana seemed kinda pointless. Instead of that, they should have just kept the "losing battle" vibe going.
