CHRISTPUNCHER18
I haven't read all of the replies, so soz if this has already been said Make it like Fallout:3/NV and have a whole galaxy to explore. Over 10 000 square KM of free roam-able world overall. That's it right now...

skummgummigubbe
And what would you like to see in it? Any specific ideas? Would you like to play a Sparty? An Elite? Maybe a Brute? What customization options would you like to have? Fallout style ju start as a murine and lvl (maby 30 lvl's) up till you are spartan or higher and fight vareus covenants, wildlife, bad UNSC that belives on the prophet, maby not ot large like "Over 10 000 square KM of free roam-able world overall" and stuff that remindes of halo, halo world (forunner strukture),weapon, armor,+ meele weapon (if larger world vehicles enabled) fully costumasing armor, weapon, player(face, boddy, sex) mian Quest line + side Quests, NOT ONLY random side Quests it kan take place any time but probebly at the end of halo 6 ore between halo 3-4 it can be master scheif living a rpg + no wats or like it thats fallout style WOW style ju start chosing side Covenant or UNSC then race if UNSC ,murine,spartan,ODST.. if Covenant ,elite, brute, grunt and every race have different classes, skills fully costomasion over armor, player(face, boddy, sex) kinda a main Quest many side quests the end of man Quest can bee each oter of team fight pillar of atumn or supercarrier or a common enemy like prophet a halo planet the ring or onyx ore somthing else it can take part between halo2-3 bekouse the covs and unsc are kinad friends but still enemys moundts and pets. a litle about my thoughts

Father B
So a Halo MMO is a popular concept. But has anyone got any ideas for races, classes, or skills/skill-trees? Not to mention any ideas on how to balance the aforementioned in-game?
Mr Muffins 7
my first post was races and balance but i will say it again UNSC Spartans - really good for grouped combat but also 1v1, Spartans have more health and deal more damage but are slower then everyone and arnt the smartest guys/gals around ODST- Specialize in 1v1 combat and are great being stealth and always on the move, ODST deal alot more damage and move much faster but have less health Marine- very effective in large groups, marines are well balanced in everything to damage, health, speed intelligence but also great at mechanics (not like any other) Mercenary- Paid by the UNSC to hunt and kill high level targets, super affective away from combat where he can snipe his enemy, Very effective long range but not very affective in close quarters, lower health then the marine, a little slower but alot smarter Covenant Elite- great for grouped combat, can inspire fellow troops to deal a little more damage, Elites have decent health (less then the spartan more then the marine) and intelligence, with good damage and but not very mobile except when evading Brute- Very strong and but also very dumb. Brutes have lots of health and lots of damage but they are very stupid, they move kinda slow but when there really close to dieing they rage and move really fast Jackel - most effective at long distance with the sniper and when close range they can deploy a shield. great damage when sniping but little when sheild is deployed. Low health and average movement and a little smarter then the average marine Drone- very fast and very effective in large groups, They are very fast, average damage, average health and are great for fixing things up
Father B
That's all okay, Mr. Muffins. But the trick is to balance things in such a way as to make things competitive without tampering with a character or race's notable traits. Also, I'd like to know what you mean with some of your terminology. For instance, you would have the Spartans move slowly, even though they move faster than most beings, whether they're wearing Mjolnir Mk. VI or not (but they're especially quick if they aren't wearing it). You would also have the mobility of an Elite restricted, by the sound of it. But Sangheilli are one of the quickest, most agile and graceful species in the galaxy. Balance can be achieved in a variety of ways. None better than the inclusion of skills or abilities that you might not normally think of. For instance, on the ground is where the UNSC were stronger than the Covvies, but if the Covvies would have called in aerial or orbital strikes in the game, well Master Chief's adventure may have been a lot shorter. As it was, they never felt that glassing a single Demon to spare the lives of another few thousand Grunts, Jackals, Brutes and Elites was worth it. And look what it cost them. Could'a. Would'a. Should'a. And about your tendency to use vague terminology in a system which I presume is to measure damage, speed, intelligence, and so on. I like hearing your ideas, but the details get muddled when you use terms like "low", "medium", "high", "little", "average", and "good". I mean, how much smarter is "a lot smarter"? And "average health" relative to what? Know what I mean? I'm not wanting to be picky here, but I'm having a bit of difficulty interpreting your notions and lingo. So I guess I'm just trying to elicit some more comprehensive data for my brain to compute. :geek:
Mr Muffins 7
i havnt really thought it through i kind of thought of it on the top of my head, its a little hard to balance out a spartan when they are more stronger, faster, smarter, better reflexes, then any marine or odst
Father B
Ah! But you see, Mr. Muffins, you just answered the question posed by your statement. "How do you balance a Sparty with Marines?" They're on the same faction, see, so the only figuring out we need to do is "How many Marines does it take to screw-in a lightbulb?" and compare it to "How many Elites/Brutes/Hunters does it take to unscrew the same lightbulb?" My apologies for the very loose metaphor. So tired.
