Popular Post Absolute Dog
History with Halo And Quick Overview of their History Certain Affinity is an American video game development studio based in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 2006 by Max Hoberman and a small number of other ex-Bungie employees and other industry veterans including former members of companies such as Microsoft, Red Storm,Origin, Electronic Arts, Digital Anvil and NCSoft. The studio's first work was in creating two additional multiplayer levels for the popular Xbox game Halo 2. These maps, called "Tombstone" and "Desolation" (which were called the Halo 2 Blastacular Map Pack) were the last Halo 2 maps to be released; they are remakes of levels that were in the original Halo, called "Hang 'Em High" and "Derelict" respectively. They were released for Halo 2 on the Xbox Live on April 17, 2007. These maps weren't released for Halo 2 Vista, but were replaced with two new maps exclusive to Halo 2 vista which were "District" and "Uplift". Certain Affinity worked closely with members of Bungie and Microsoft Game Studios during the development of these two maps. In 2009 the company announced the completion of Halo Waypoint developed in conjunction with 343 Industries. The company worked on the "Defiant Map Pack" for Halo: Reach which was released on March 15, 2011. The Defiant Map Pack, developed by Certain Affinity in collaboration with 343 Industries, contained three new multiplayer battlefields. Condemned, set on a space station above the planet Reach, is designed for 6-12 players in various team modes and Free-for-all, while Highlands is a Big Team Battle, Team Slayer, and Team Objective map set in the Wilderness Training Preserve on the planet. Finally, Unearthed was a new Firefight map set inside a titanium mine. The map pack includes new Achievements to the value of 150 Gamerscore. Certain Affinity has also been working on another project since November 2006, which is an unannounced original IP game in the action/RPG genre. The title of this game, the platform it will be for, and when it will be released have not yet been announced. However, Certain Affinity has said in a recent interview that it has "spoken with most of the major publishers and there’s serious interest, so our goal is to continue self-funding the company until we're ready to sign a publishing deal and move everyone full time onto this project." Certain Affinity's first original game was Age of Booty, a downloadable real-time strategy game released on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. The title was published by Capcom on October 15, 2008. Certain Affinity created Call of Duty: World at War multiplayer maps for the retail release as well as maps for the 2nd downloadable map pack. The company helped Valve port Left 4 Dead to the Xbox 360. Left 4 Dead created for the Xbox 360 platform in November 17, 2008 and Left 4 Dead -- Crash Course for the Xbox 360 September 29, 2009. In 2010, Certain Affinity collaborated on maps and game modes with Treyarch and Activision for Call of Duty: Black Ops and First Strike Map Pack 1. The company has announced their new game, due to release at summer 2011, called Crimson Alliance, at RTX (a Rooster Teeth Event). Certain Affinity has also announced partnering with 343 Industries again for the development of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, which was released exclusively for Xbox 360 on November 15, 2011. At RTX 2012, Certain Affinity announced that the studio has been working again with 343 Industries on developing the Forge map making tools for Halo 4.

Sikslik7
Great forger themselves, and they left out zoom and fine editing in Halo 4. So Sad.
HappehNinja
Sounds like they have potential. We might keep hearing from them further on. Who knows, perhaps the next big hit might come from them.

Jinseta
Ever since forge and theater were introduced in H3, I have heard a great deal of 'this is a hard thing to do' from its developers. With respect to Certain Affinity, I can believe it. H4 forge has big flaws, but I would prefer to see a strong and steady evolution of it in future Halo releases. Having only experienced the Defiant Map Pack on HR, I would say they've got a decent start.
Luminous
I played the Halo 2 maps they made, but not too much as 5 months later Halo 3 was released. They were good maps though, pretty faithful to the Halo :CE versions. I really liked the Defiant Map pack. Highlands is one of my favorite Reach maps, a great Big Team map. Condemned is also very good and Unearthed is a lot of fun in Firefight. They also, IMO, did a very good job on the Anniversary maps for Reach. Yes they were remakes, but they were all well done.
♠ Spades N AZ ♠
It's such an honor and privilege to have your affiliation with our forum. I know that, unfortunately for years, you guys have been unrecognized for the great maps and content you have provided us in several Halos. I will admit, that I have had my gripes and groans but have overall been a big supporter. I only know of a few things which have restricted what you wanted to give us but also know that there are many things which inhibit what you you are fully capable of delivering. I hope that with the new Xbox and it's capabilities that you guys are able to deliver to the fans more of what you have already wanted to give. I wish you could have been there when I first experienced the Halo 4 forge. I went to Ravine first, and just starred, with ideas running wild. Thank you, for your dedication to Halo and the beautiful maps and content you have delivered for years. Go big on Halo 5!!!
URBAN B0BCAT
Dear Certain Affinity, I know that we just met, even though I had seen you a few times before during a couple "Parties", and I wanted to say that I think you're pretty cool. I've known a few people like you over the years. I admit, I used to date Bungie back when Halo 3 and Reach were lookin' good. They had some real nice "Tools" at the time if you know what I mean. Anyways, I've actually moved on and I think that I'll make you my new main squeeze. I've really felt this need to "Forge" a new relationship lately. I hope that you'll have me. I mean, you've stacked your own tool pallet pretty well, which is always a plus in my book. There's obviously a "Magnetic" attraction that we have, which I love! I wish that I could "Batch Capture" some of your sweet pieces and move them around gently all at once, but hey, who's perfect? If we're being completely honest here, I've been trying to sneak a peek of the "Ravine" you got on your backside cliffs. I know it sounds like a lot to ask so early, but I really wish that I could get back there some time, maybe drop in a few of my pieces. If you can't let that happen, then maybe my next girl might have that going for her. For now though, I'm really glad that you've come along. Maybe some day we'll be able to "Zoom" into this relationship a bit faster, but for now, I think that you're just fine. Thanks for just being you. Let me know if you think that I've been too forward. If not, I'll see you soon. You know I'll be busy trying to make a real "Impact" on you by placing a "Silo" somewhere in that "Corridor" piece you gave us. (Inappropriate?) Call meh! Happy Forging! =^..^=

Cooliest
I think that so far they are just hitting the tip of the ice berg with what their company really has to offer. They will soon get it down to the science and start pumping out some real masterpieces of beauty and great gameplay. I believe in them.
