HOW TO SAVE HALO

Recommended Posts

  • MUST HAVE'S:
    1. We need (Team doubles Multi team and an Mlg playlist) ASAP.
    2. We need atleast 5more small maps PLUS another 5 small forged arena maps.
    3. We need the standard kill cam fixed
    OPTIONAL'S:
    1. We need to be zoomed OUT when shot like in reach.
    2. We need final kill cams to be in all game types.
    3. The playlist needs to be tidied up, All objective game types need to be put into 1 catagory or into 1file instead of having such a big confusing playlist.
    4. The DLC maps should be programmed to appear in the regular playlists but ONLY appear if the entire lobby has the maps like in reach, BUT thats not to say take away the seperate DLC playlist all together.
343 have done such a great job with halo 4 however there are the above issues that will sink your ship if you dont address them.
I truely believe that if you implemented the above suggestions halo4 would be a jugganort reborn and wipe out Cod forever. Especially because black ops 2 is a really weak game. H4 is so asthetically pleasing and the game play is very good but has the potential to be ALOT better with a few little additions.
Its truely heart breaking that you guys have left these things out of the game. This could have been a historical game but its dying dismally. Halo is hanging on by a thread and if you dont impliment the above suggestions im aftraid 343 will be remembered as the company that last had their hands on halo when halo died for good. And thats not a good start for 343.
Please impliment as much of the above as possible so that all of the good things 343 has done doesnt go to waste and get forgotton and keep halo alive. There is no gameplay in a FPS like halo, this game can still be a jugganort. Just tidy it up a bit, and make the game as strong as it has the potential to be by adding as much of the above as you can.
The game has so much potential but is no where near close to meeting that potential.
If the above suggestions arent possible i would love to know why.
I sincerely hope you took the time to read this.
Halo is my heart. I know what this game needs.
The things u did well have been done acceptionally. Finish the job. Its do or die.

Agree with all your points but unscoping when shot. Don't think that's needed.

Also, why does every Halo fan have to go out of their way to insult Call of Duty all the time? It makes you look extremely biased and kinda uncool, and really no better than CoD fanboys who hate on Halo for no reason.

Ok, I'll bite. Have you even played Halo CE, Halo 2 or Halo 3? No, I am asking you a legitimate question because your response of why does every Halo fan have to insult CoD makes you sound very ignorant to the fact that you have never played the previous franchise installments. If I want to play Call of Duty then I will take the disc out and put it in my xbox. When I want to play Halo then I am not looking to play Call of Duty, let me elaborate.

If you play Halo 2 or Halo 3, did it remind you of Call of Duty? Why of course not. Winning and losing actually means something in "Halo" (or so I thought it would for future installments) and strategy plus map control for weapons was a must to win. Everyone started off on an equal footing which means it was a very competitive game. Fast forward to Halo 4, experience based progression system where if you win or lose don't matter I still get my XP. Customizable loadout spawns with tactical features, ordinance drops and sprints etc. My point is all this so called "innovation" was based off of fear that if they did not try something new they would lose their fan base which was completely untrue. The original Halo trilogy had a cult following and represented the best multiplayer FPS on xbox live. You do not fix something that is not broken.

I've played Halo ever since CE and did clan battles in Halo 2 all the way to MLG with Halo 3. Halo Reach was a complete fail and just like a head coach that needs firing from an NFL team, it was time for Bungie to take their leave after that so called mess. The true Halo players understand what I am talking about and it's not looking forward to Halo 5 currently. These developers lost all sight into what made Halo the best FPS.

See, that's a huge problem for a new IP. First impressions mean a lot and people are not happy about things currently. I am not saying it's easy to fill those shoes of the most popular FPS on xbox live for years, but they lost sight in things that made Halo last so long.

Like what multiplayer? Unless the entire game is multiplayer (counter strike, Battlefield) then it should not be what carries the game.

It is not hard to see that 343 wants to make the game more about the story seeing as they have w web series, books, and Spartan Ops to compliment the campaign.

If it were up to me I would just give it Halo 2 multiplayer. That way so little work would actually go into the matchmaking more attention could be put into the story.

Yes the multiplayer aspect is what I was referring to.

well this might be true if the online population was able to pass 100k a day its only been 3months since release.... i logged in and saw 40k online total in all playlist thats terrible for a AAA game of this caliber within the year so either 4.3million fans are dumb or they understand halo 4 has a issue.

the reason halo 2 and 3 where callled glory days was becase back then code battlefeild etc hadent taken off and becoame a big franchise yet now halo has compation

You know, this is probably the most important thing in this thread.

Let's look at big Xbox shooter franchises, shall we?

Halo 2 comes out in 2004. It's effectively the ONLY console-based online shooter at this time: all the other big players are still on PC alone, so it's pretty much Halo 2 or nothing.

Halo 3 comes out in 2007. Its population begins well, but never peaks quite as high as its predecessor because some players go back to playing Halo 2, and because this is the year that Modern Warfare comes out, providing the first real, popular alternative to Halo on console.

Next is Modern Warfare 2, which is followed by Black Ops: both extremely popular in their own right and sucking in even more players who want something new after spending five years with the Halo formula.

Bungie reacts to this with Reach, which splits the fanbase in two. Some like the new features, others hate them and go back to the previous Halos. This is going to be a BIG problem in the future, because there are now TWO Halo formulas, not just one, and one group of fans wants the newer Halos to go even further with trying new things, while the other want a return to older styles of play.

There are two more games in the CoD franchise before the arrival of Halo 4. People like playing new things, even if they're not significantly different, and so while CoD retains most of its own fans it also gets some more from Halo players who want something new or who didn't like Reach. Plus, people get more familiar with CoD's style of play, meaning that when Battlefield arrives on consoles it also becomes popular, draining even more players from the Halo fanbase.

When Halo 4 comes out, it's followed almost immediately by Black Ops 2, meaning many players will have to choose between the two games, draining a few more players from Halo. 343 has also had to decide which side of the fanbase they want to alienate, as after Reach it's no longer possible to please everyone.

So in short, Halo 4 was ALWAYS going to have difficulty kicking its way back to the top of the popular pile. Whether it's good or not is almost irrelevant: a literary analogy is Twilight, which is some of the worst written work ever produced, but manages to be more popular than God simply because its intended audience likes that kind of thing.

Ugh, I came in here to reply to the first post and ended up getting completely sidetracked. My apologies, Benjamin.

Might be a reason halo 4 is downfall but i beleive had halo stayed at there roots of what made halo halo this wouldn't be a issue. Halo 3 came out there was loads of shooters mw2 gears and left 4 dead all amazing gameplays But halo still stood tall. i can not comment on halo reach because i didn't enjoy it and that was the main reason i picked up Cod and got into it i felt reach didn't have the halo experience i enjoyed anymore.

That is what you call "the proof is in the pudding". If this update is not significant in area's that need to be addressed immediately then this game will turn into what Reach was. Ranking and social playlists need to be installed, playlist updates also need repairing (No BTB objective??? Wtf are you thinking 343??).

Hearing all this backlash or "complaining" as others that are happy with the direction Halo is going to call it, is because the Halo players of the past want Halo to succeed. We want the nostalgia feeling and call about the franchise. If things don't get fixed then you won't see complaining and just a huge drop off of interest to the game. It will then just be an average run of the mill cash cow as other series.

theres some good points here but i think ur looking at whats happened to halo and making excuses. we are up to 9 CODS! 9 with exactly the same formula yet it still pulls in a massive following every game why? because they have a formula that works and they dont change it. instead of saying cod comes out and everyone goes to cod you should ask urself why?

if halo was a good game and stuck to its roots and continued the formula that made it popular people wouldnt leave to play another game. all my friends and me included dislike this halo infact i go about 2 games before i wanna get off and we dont play. you can make excuses about other games coming out stealing population all you want but its the game that isnt fun to play that loses people

That's why the expression "Do not fix what is not broken" is worth it's weight in gold here.
