Iиversiσn
Hello everybody, There has been one question lurking on my mind ever since I first encountered elites on Halo 4. I have had the campaign completed for quite a while now, yet browsing online, I have never found the answer to my question. Why have the Elites broken their "truce" with UNSC forces, humans in general? Help clear this up for me, as I have no clue why my best friends are trying to massacre me? Thanks, -Inversion
SatanicBagels
They haven't so to speak. The elites encountered in Halo 4 are a seperate faction of the covenant that opposed the Arbiter and all of the other elites in continuation of their pursuit of the Great Journey. (Religious nut-heads if you will) They never accepted the Arbiter's truce with the humans and still seek to eradicate them. It's also worth noting that they are a very dark and cruel gang of elites. Their armor is darker and more ancient, they act more like brutes, and they are often depicted as terrorists throughout Spartan Ops. Not sure why 343i didn't seek to explain this in the game though. RelevantEagle22
i agree with SweatyBagels. But I think 343i should tell us why in halo
HappehNinja
Yeah, those are the "most religious ones". They refuse to choose the path of the Arbiter and are still up for the "Religious war". Perhaps there are more goals besides the Halo rings. As we could see, the Didact was apparently another of their goals. Who knows what else they have in store to use in their favor on this war? Kiing 0f Coffe
Most of the Storm Covenant are still crazed Forerunner worshipers, but their leader, Jul Mdama, is an atheist.
Caboose The Ace
after the war ended most elites wanted peace with the humans but a small group did not so thats the ones u fight
RisingPho3nix
If you want a more in depth answer, read the Kilo-Five book trilogy. It starts with Halo: Glasslands and continues with Halo: The Thursday War, but I don't think the third book has been released yet. In any case, these books are what bridge the gap between Halo 3 and Halo 4.
HappehNinja
after the war ended most elites wanted peace with the humans but a small group did not so thats the ones u fight Funny thing is that the small group is still big enough to keep the war going. melon0111
I really think there should have been an explanation to this in the game. I had to look it up on the wiki but yeah they split from the loyalist covenant.
BaconShelf
Essay time! After the war, a group called Servants of the Aboding truth wanted to overthrow arbiter. ONI began to give them weapons to start a civil war. In one of these meetings, Jul M'Dama was captured and sent to Onyx. He was improsoned and eventually set to wander round in an explosive harness. He had an engineer escort who he talked to about the forerunners to keep impressions he was still religious. In paticular the Didact and Requiem. The engineer showed him some symbols on a portal, where he threatened to blow it up If he wasn't set free. The Huragok was forced to save Forerunner tech and released him. He was sent to a Sangheili occupied colony where he explained the Great Schism and war. He then began to study the portal he arrived from, piecing together launguage to find.... You guessed it, requiem. There they waited, building their armies for four years until chief arrives. And you know the tale from there...
