I'd assume you'd have to be trustworthy and get to know everyone well, and be up for the task of actually moderating. I once thought it'd be cool to be a mod when I joined this site, mainly because it's a cool title, but then realized you'd have to do work, which I suck at because I'm incredibly lazy.
