Assault Rifle?

I feel that multiplayer is now all about long ranged weapons or who can make the best combo loadouts? Especially on big team battle rounds?

If I try using the assault rifle it's sort of pointless because I can never get close enough to use it. I die by brs/dmr while trying to get close enough to use it on someone.

Does anyone else agree with this?

yea, the bigger maps make it much harder to use the AR. that being said, they all still have more enclosed areas where you can force the close combat, but you have to stick to the caves and interiors or you get hosed. Firepower is your friend, drag a DMR or BR along for the ride

Not really, well, depends on how you use it if you play a big map with an Assault rifle and a magnum expect to be PWNed all game long.

Try using the DMR/BR as primary then use Assault for secondary that's what I do and I've gotten Perfections in maps like Exile that and don't depend your loadout to get you kills know where power weapons spawn, in Halo power weapons are key not loadout weapons

Anyone who can use a DMR properly can dominate someone that's using an AR, no matter the range. Period.

I think that the AR is fine for big team battle. That what I always use and most of the time I do good.

you have learn to stick to more confined areas on larger maps and draw in players from the outside

I should also say I feel it's useless on regular team slayer ( 8 people). I'm always out gunned byt people with dmrs/brs camping :/

the ar is way to beefed up it can out range a br's at mid range. I use the ar and can easyly dispatch dmr's and br's in mid range.

Assault rifle is good alot of people still use it but the original maps make it harder. majestic map pack will help because its smaller so you use it longer.
