Horizon / Approach

This Dominion map was originally made back in November. This is my first attempt at a map in Halo 4, though i do have one in my file share on Reach.

The idea for this map came to me the first night the game came out. The environment of Impact reminds me of two of my favorite movies, Event Horizon and Aliens and so this map is dedicated to them.

When thinking about how i wanted to build my map i considered the people i play with most, my friends, who play Halo but also play other games, like Battlefield, so i wanted to make it available for big scale battles, with a lot of vehicles and heavy weapon power.  I also wanted to include an air space to take advantage of the open area Impact offers and maybe encourage a dogfight or two. I also wanted to include close quarter spaces to get the claustrophobic feel that would come with being on a space station.

In Dominion mode there are 3 bases to capture. Two main bases and one to give favor in balance. All bases have ordinance drops that will continue to become more powerful the longer the bases are held. Though all bases give vehicles upon capture, two bases give an extra vehicle that could give a team an advantage. Each base has a turret located directly outside of the ship from it's control room. Each base has it's own unique qualities.

Gravity and speed are both modified by a single trait zone. Each main player base is stocked with vehicles that are available only to it's team members. Banner displays located in the player bases let the respawning players know which bases are currently held by which team. This is a big map so there are plenty of high powered weapons available, some where you would expect them to be to help keep the action flowing.

Approach

This map also has a Flood variation that is called Approach. The UNSC has lost communications with the port and has diverted an elite squadron of Marines originally en route to the war on the Flood, to investigate and reactivate it's beacon. Hundreds of Flood stranded in space from the near by war wander in a perpetual orbit around the Impact asteroid and its mother planet. Players arrive at the space port and discover it has been torn to shreds and abandoned, with no signs of the former crew. Spartans must then reclaim the UNSC port and discover ways to survive until back up squads arrive.

You can play both or the variations of this map with default Domination or Flood game types. I also included Slayer and Extraction. It has been tested with 20+ players and tuned to suggestions and discoveries of bugs and holes / exploits.. but that doesn't mean i consider it done. It needs to be tested so it can be improved and be ready. That includes both versions.

I suggest making a custom game type to make the games longer and raise the score because of the size of the map, and i included a custom flood game type that gives benefits to the alpha flood and the last man standing. The custom game type will be in my file share and is called Horizon Flood. It gives you the ability to have some better classes and other benefits i mentioned.

There is more to be discovered in both maps.

You can find my file share under my gamer tag scream4imfire.

I am only uploading them to my file share in connection with this post, so if they do not immediately show up please check back.

I also have to figure out how to get you a link to my fileshare.

Thank you for your time.

From the pics i see your map relies heavily on the station corridors. Corridors cause lots of issues ex: frame-rate, player disorientation, call-out issues, and unavoidable bottlenecks everywhere. Also including the open "space" as a playable area may cause issues with base control and player flow. i will look it over in forge to be sure. Your map does benefit from an interesting theme and detailed forging. I would love to further discuss your map with you over xbox live, just message me when you are available.
