So what's the point of playing after reaching level 130? Did you guys even think before you made this game?

Honestly after reaching level 130 there is no point to this game? Why even implement a CR system and create daily/weekly/monthly chalenges when it does not matter!!!! Where is this CR going anyway after you reached 130? So I ask what's the point of CR system when you get capped anway?? Its not like you can use it in the game to buy anything or upgrade your spartan? Please explain your reasoning for doing such a thing?  I am a paying customer and would like to know these things...........

My excessive use of the ???? means I am really confuse by your choices...

What's the point of playing the game once you hit the max rank? Well, call me crazy, but you could just play the game to enjoy the gameplay and story. I mean, that's why I play games to begin with. A rank progression system is just icing on the metaphorical cake. Just because you hit the max rank doesn't mean you suddenly can't enjoy the gameplay or the story of the campaign. If you weren't a fan of either of those, then honestly I don't see why you'd bother playing for max rank to begin with since you're not actually enjoying the game.

Firstly, this is a community forum, so no one here can answer for 343 Industries. However, perhaps I can put your mind at ease a bit.

What was the point in playing after hitting Inheritor in HR? What was the point of playing after hitting 50 in H3? In H3 it was actually counterproductive to continue playing because it increased your risk of losing games and being a 49 again.

The point is simply this. You play to have fun. Unlocking armor and weapons and new ranks just adds to the fun, but overall doesn't impact the gameplay experience all that much (a little bit more in H4 than other Halos, but the point is still valid).

As in any game, when you hit the level cap the only reason to keep playing is to have fun, brag to people about your rank, and show off your skill.

If it's just that you are feeling a bit burned out in Halo 4, then try these tips to keep it fun:

1. Plug in a mic and talk to random people in the lobby. Try to make new friends to play with and talk to.

2. Try taking the game less seriously. Or more seriously, depending on your point of view.

3. Set goals to accomplish. These can be serious goals, or fun/funny goals. A for instance of a serious goal is "get a killing frenzy three games in a row". A fun/funny one would be "teabag every player in the game".

4. Play playlists that you don't often play. Maybe your first few experiences with them weren't the best, and you only think you hate them.

5. Try custom games. Whether it be a 1v1 or a playdate, custom games can renew your fire for Halo.

6. Above all, try new things.

That should give you a reason to play even after hitting the level cap.

You could play halo for nothing for years and still have a blast. I know! I did it. But not this game. There is no fun running up on a guy that just got a tommy gun that owns and u got some cool nades that put up a huge aura around them letting every know there about to blow up.. That seems real fun to me. lol Makes me wonder why I don't get paid millions to be a retarted..

Lol the tea bag line made me giggle. It pisses me off when some tea bags me. I make it a point to only shoot that guy.

I heard (rumours) that new specialisations are coming out. I can't confirm or deny it, but if its true, it does show they're at least trying to keep people interested.

Apart from the occasional map pack or TU, I don't see many FPS makers getting as involved with the fanbase as 343. I know Valve is incredibly involved with fans. Apart from Half-Life...

Anyway, getting off topic, I think that with forge and customs, there are still nearly infinite options for unique play styles. It's just noone seems to see past only competitive play.

Hit SR130 within three weeks of getting the game, and I was shocked I even reached that as I realised just how bugged, glitchy and downright stupid some of the new game settings were.  Only reason I bother to play now is to get the added achievements.

Only the continuation of Spartan Ops will get me playing the game again now all the achievements are out of the way.

People say play custom games, or forge a map..  But when you consider the amount of options that have been removed, there isn't scope for much.  I wanted to create a game variant where all you got was Plasma Nades, yet the Spartans HAVE to be holding a weapon to use nades and HAVE to be holding a weapon to walk properly instead of sliding around the map!  The amount of options in HR for Infection, all dropped because the gamemode was changed to "Flood" (don't get me started on how buggy and glitched that is)...

What's the point in anything, for that matter?

You make of the game as you will. Either you find value and take stock in the game or you don't. Or you could strive to be like that one dude on here who is apparently so good at the game he can send copies of Halo 4 back to GameStop and send kiddies to bed crying because of their lack of raw skill.

i personally dont care what level i am. sure getting to lvl130 in h4 is going to be awesome but i also make sure i dont play it all the time so it doesnt lose its flare and awesomeness. thats the trick.

but im also a huge halo fan so i dont care if there isnt anything to do after i accomplish a goal. ill find something to do and keep playing because i can lol

that and i enjoy all the campaigns and have yet to beat all difficulties on all of them so there is my solution  :harhar:

You're confused and you don't know why you don't like the game anymore OP? Derpa derpa derp.

Really? Because its fun. You get to kill things. And every now and again do something spectacular. I have 8 days of gameplay invested. Just got my first perfection the other day. It was incredible. I saved the video and... Imagine this... Had FUN!!!

No one can play for fun now. It has to be about a rank that means nothing to anything outside of games. Fun? Bah! You can't have fun! People who play for fun shouldn't play the game, and leave it for us 'competitive' players who can't play the game when it changes so have to mimic older games to feel like we are actually good!

Seriously, learn to play for enjoyment.

I always think there's a point in playing after you reach the max level. There is always gonna be people better than you on matchmaking and I think that keeps the game interesting imo. I would only stop playing something online if I'd maxed everything out and I could easily beat everyone.

Fortunately I'm not that good so I get to keep on enjoying online play knowing that it's not a guarantee I'm gonna win :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the point of the game is to have fun.  Or did you miss that part when you were complaining about the game?

Agreed. I don't even like the game but I never complained about the max rank being 130. If anything I have a bit of a problem with the ranks governing unlocks, but the advantages granted by specializations aren't that extreme so I still don't care.

If you enjoy playing the game then being 130 without continued progress shouldn't bother you. If you don't enjoy the game enough to play past 130 I wonder why you played at all. Or maybe 130 is just a sweet spot where you've played a lot but had your fill. Either way the point is to have a good time playing the game, and if it were good enough then fewer people would care about SR.

I didn't personally enjoy it enough to get as far as 130, but again, of my MANY complaints with Halo 4, having a max rank wasn't one of them. I go back to BF3 every now and then and am amazed at people who think the post-unlock ranks in that game matter.

IF you're into ranking systems that ARE NOT based on skill or merit, namely ones that increase your rank the more/longer you play, would you be happy with any system that isn't infinite or otherwise ridiculous? I do understand that it's a bit of a bummer to not increase any more, but I don't understand what you expect instead, and I don't understand why anyone lets that momentary shrug keep them from enjoying a game that they heretofore enjoyed.

Personally I find ranking systems based on time/games played depressing after awhile. I like getting unlocks, but having that thing next to my name that says "This dude has played a LOT" bothers me just a little because while I consider the time I spent on good games entirely worth it, I admit that I probably should have done something else with some of that time, or at least used the game time to become a lot better at the game than I am. I've never been the best at any game, but to have at thing there saying "He's played a LOT and he STILL doesn't have very good stats" just makes me think even my hours playing the game have been spent playing it wrong (Unless I've had enormous amounts of fun, then I'm thrilled about my time investment no matter what).

There's an argument on both sides.

Sure, the game is good, and if you like it, you should be playing it simply because you like it. Ultimately, that's why people play games.

However, it is a bit perplexing that

1. One can hit the cap easily after a month or two of moderate play. Why even have a cap? Why have credits earned anymore? Inheritor is different, since it would take anyone likely over a year of consistent play to reach, and 99% of players never reached it.

2. Like so many ranking systems out there, such a huge emphasis is put on unlockables that ultimately don't really matter.

3. A fulfilling rank system is still absent, and likely now always will be, despite virtually everyone asking for it.

Though H4 is a good game that you should just play because its good and fun. On the other hand, it could be better in many, simple ways.

I just thought the point of the game was to play with people. If you reached the top then, play with more people and interact, i play to be the best.

But being realistic i could never be the actual best. So i play to get better but i join a clan, i get a party, i forge here and there. I save clips.

Dude like seriously take the time to actually enjoy and admire what you do every game and how you affect everything that happens in that game just as much as the next person.

Just open your eyes and youll realize that SR is a joke of a ranking system and that everyone would have capped everntually regardless of how much they play.

I quit playing for 4 months....im a 90 and ive played a couple of hours a day for 3 weeks. Its not the rank that makes the game its the people playing. Just think about it.

Do you think its worth playing with thousands of other gamers in a single session of gaming or no?
