BaconShelf
[relax, just go from here] Jacob was thankful for the dropships descending into the courtyard. Food, ammo, troops, fuel and most importantly, another three shuttles for which to provide air support. He walked past the side turret of the first ship, his heart lifted when he saw it; a prototype Mantis, one of the only ones of its kind, and it was being deployed here! He saw a Scorpion tank drop off the second ship with a Wolverine on the third. All powerful threats to invasion forces. He heard a swoop of fighter jets, looking up in time to see two Shortswords escorting an approaching Albatross. "Echo Tango-2-3 preparing to enter courtyard. Looks like you guys need the help." Crackled the pilots voice over the radio. He began to notice an increase of activity among the troops. This was the morale they needed, to know the In Amber Clad actually cared about them. He began revising defensive fortifications, the albatross, possessing no on-board weaponry could easily become fortress. With the news toys and men to play with, he assigned two squads to defend each vehicle. Snipers did not have to concentrate on aircraft now as SAM tank could take care if that the Pelicans were refuelled and restocked, with all five of each ships cannons focused o the street. Nothing could survive that. The remaing squads and Mantis were sent into the fortified metro. The last thing that needed to be done was Instacrete fortifications built. If given enough time, bunkers could be built in the complex. The engineers and spare hands began to work on applying the gel to cracks in the existing walls, as a holo table in the building worked the best positions for where they were. No, they could be ready for anything.
D-38 Boss
"Pffffft." Haskell scoffed at the Shortsword Bombers. "Nothing like flying a brick with wings..." He continued to keep the skies clear for Jacob's team, no easy feat with the amount of Banshees in the air, but at least he didn't have to go against a Phantom.
Mr. Wolfy
(no hard feelings Halo, but talking elites is just weird O3o particularly ones that say they r sry for mercilessly smushing ur face after they just invaded earth and slaughtered hundreds) Kyro cut Ivan loose and handed him a sillenced smg before moving to the door of the room. Popping the door slowly open and checking outside he quickly reclosed it and turned to Ivan, "Why would they assume they need to post four heavily armed elites and a squad of grunts to guard this building? Because that's what we're lookin at outside here."
BaconShelf
The Wolverine continued its volley against enemy aircraft. It seemed endless, as though that every Banshee downed, it was replaced by two more. "Pelicans 1,2 and 3, lift off, assist the LongSwords in clearing the skies.
D-38 Boss
"Captain, rescind those orders, We need all the pelicans intact. I can handle these guys." Scott checked his Ammo and fuel reserves. He still had about 10,000 rounds of ammunition, and enough fuel for another 2 hours. Another formation of Banshees arrived. "Man, I must've hit Ace-status ten times over today." He said with a grin, Excited for the chance to add his new kills to his tally. The side of his fighter already had an Impressive amount of kill markers painted on, and he'd be the last to complain about adding some new ones. He expertly slid his Longsword in behind one of the Banshees, and unleashed a quick burst of machine gun fire, tearing it to pieces. "At this rate, I'm gonna need more paint." He snickered.
BaconShelf
"You sure Eagle, I'd hate for our air support to get picked off. We'll cover the Phantoms for ya, just call if you need help." As he finished the last sentence, he saw a ghost round the corner. Then another, and more. "Cobra, Scorpion, FIRE! Snipers, AM rounds on ghosts. Marksmen, wait for infantry. All other squads, do not engage until they are in the firing line." He then recalled the air support, waiting for the ships to disentegrating the incoming scouts.
Surveillance
"Thanks for the SMG. And uh, I would think that is because if I escaped they would not get the plans that I knew which HIGHCOM personally told me. So I guess if I somehow managed to kill the squashed elite that is over there, there would be no way of me escaping. At least that is what I think. Hey... look!" Ivan pointed towards a ventilation shaft the was strangely wide. He picked up a rock and chucked it at the shaft cover, which fell and clanged on the ground. "We can climb through here and out the back. Then we part I ways and I continue doing Recon, and carefully at that. Let's go." The Russian looked upwards and grabbed the a large square tunnel and pulled himself in. "Waiting for you Kyro."
D-38 Boss
"I'll say it again, Focus on the ground, leave the air forces to me, I need to earn my pay check." Scott banked around and flew low through a few buildings, trying to shake the rather persistent Banshee on his tail. His Longsword took a few plasma bolts, but nothing major. Scott scanned the approaching buildings, looking for anything that could help him. Quickly approaching on the right, was a large billboard. "Cliche, but I'll take it." He trained his crosshair on it and fired off a quick burst, cutting the sign down. he quickly dove under it, narrowly missing being crushed, and flew up. Unfortunately, the Banshee's pilot didn't fall for it, easing up on the throttle and flying past after the billboard had fallen. The momentary distraction was all Scott needed. He pulled up sharply on the stick, doing half a loop, before rolling over and lining up a shot on the Banshee. He gave the trigger of his flight stick a quick squeeze, and added another kill to his daily total. "And that's how it's done!!!" His radar beeped, cutting his celebration short. "Aw crap..." He flipped on his radio. "Ground teams! Three Spirits entering the airspace, with 5 escorts... And a Phantom for C.A.S." He turned and started an intercept course toward the new contacts. "Keep your heads down! I'll handle the air units. Make sure you take out any Air-to-ground units!" Scott looked down at his ammo reserves. 8,000 rounds. "Plenty to get the job done." He scoffed. Mr. Wolfy
Kyro stared up at the ventilation shaft, eight or nine feet off the ground... "Well, s***..." Turning, he moved over to his pod and took out the extra clips of ammunition and his katana which he promptly strapped on his back. He then pried a segment of his pod loose with a screetch of distressed metal and dragged it over under the hatch and grinned, "Who said ODST's were all brawn and no brains." The grin faded from his face however as he heard movement outside the door of the room. He scrambled up the piece of metal and grabbed the edge of the hatch dragging himself up into the airduct.
BaconShelf
"Wolverine, focus on those Spirits ((Shades are stationary turret emplacement)) and Phantom. Do not fire until they enter airspace of our courtyard!" Turning his attention to the street, a large pile if rubble fell into the street, causing casualties on several Ghosts. Another few vehicles rounded, Revenant and Spectre. The mortars arced into the base, killing two soldiers. Immediately, the Scorpion put a canister shell into it, shortening its rain of terror. The Spectre was next, dodging bullets and Covrafire until it hit a critical point. Several mines exploded, leaving scrap metal where had once been a vehicle. Finally, the infantry arrived. Not from the street, but In the tunnel. Wave upon wave of Drones flooded the subway, cutting off the last chance if escape without aircraft. Flamethrowers made good work of the insects, but the horde of Buggers was too strong. Eventually, the infantry illegal out, leaving only the Mech in the tunnel. It charged its rockets and fired at a support. In the background, a skyscraper begun to collapse, unable to be supported by the tunnel z that would stem the tide while blocking escape.
Surveillance
"Alright, now that we are both in here, let's think of the way out. If the front of the building is out of the entrance we just climbed and forward, and the back is following the air-duct, so let's go." Ivan said as he began to crawl down the duct. It was very hot, and the Russian started sweating. Not to mention the helmet and armor was adding to the heat. If only standard issue marine suits had built-in AC. That would be nice. He continued to crawl his way down the metal tunnel. It seemed like it would never end, and they would just be crawling forever. Hopefully that wouldn't happen.
Mr. Wolfy
Kyro grunted, "For an airduct there isn't much air, I picked a helluva day to wear full balistic gear..." He popped his helmet off and hooked it to a small loop of rope on his belt.
D-38 Boss
[Ahh, that was what I was thinking of. I couldn't remember it... Sprirt.... ] Scott couldn't get a clear shot on any of the Carriers, or the Phantom. The Banshee escorts were seeing to that. Scott is a talented pilot, but five on one odds, weren't exactly good odds. He was trying every trick he knew, but nothing worked. He banked right and streaked past a building, using it to block a Banshee's attack. "Alright, I need to even the odds... the easy way." Scott yanked back on the flight stick, pulling an almost vertical climb, the banshees followed closely. reaching extreme altitudes, He rolled back and dove toward the banshees. At high altitude, the banshee's agility was severely diminished, making them easy prey. "That takes care of the escorts... Now for the big game!" Scott slammed the throttle forward, and rocketed toward the Carrier group.
Surveillance
"Yeah, same here. Thanks for saving my ass by the way. I owe you, even if you did crush the strangely friendly elite. Anyway... hold on do you smell gasoline? I wonder why they would be using- we need to move! Follow me, the exit to the air duct is this way!" Ivan yelled. Obviously the Covies would flood the duct with gasoline and then light it, hoping to burn them alive. He crawled steadily faster, and eventually came to an intersection with two pathways. "Which way do we go? Left or right?" the Russian asked, but still calmly.
Mr. Wolfy
"LEFT!" Kyro picked up his pace thundering through the duct. He saw a light ahead and dived out of a broken vent on to the roof of the a building right behind Ivan, just as the vents burst out in flames. He pulled himself up and looked down, noticing he had landed one of his heavy boots on Ivan's upper leg. "My bad man," he stated as he pulled himself to his feet and reached down to help Ivan up. He saw a pair of elites hustling across the roof of the building they had just dived out of and raised his assault rifle, firing a full burst at the two elites and causing them to dive down flat on the roof.
Surveillance
"Well thanks for pushing me out. Anyway, no problem about the leg. I've taken worse. Nice work of those elites. You know what, instead of doing Recon like I should, let's go back and help the Captain. I'm sure he wants it." Ivan said, smiling. He looked around at the building. The roof was literally gone, it didn't exist anymore. When did the Covies get a hold of gasoline? "Let's go." The Russian pulled out his DMR and continued, "This way. The base is North, we can mini-ambush the Covies from the east." then he ran off, hoping Kyro was right behind him.
Mr. Wolfy
"Wait wait wait!" Kyro yelled, still standing in the same spot. He motioned down off the roof on the other side of the building. "I wonder if they left the keys in the ignition of those..." He was pointing at a small army of parked wraith tanks. "A little sabotage is in order I think..." he said with an evil grin as he rubbed his hands together, and pulled a small bundle out of a bag on his hip. "You ever use good old fashioned C4..?"
D-38 Boss
Scott's ammo reserve was running low, and he only had and hour of flight time before he had to RTB. But he had managed to weaken the exterior of the Phantom with out taking much damage himself. He had about a 3 second burst of ammunition left, and he had to make it count. He rolled his fighter and moved in behind the Phantom, training his guns on the left engine. He waited until he got close enough for them to fire, before unleashing the last of his Machine gun's rounds. The engine flickered for a bit, and died. "Aw... that was diss-" The Phantom's engine exploded, sending the large ship tumbling toward the ground. "Hell yeah! that's what I'm talkin' about!" Scott flipped on his radio. "Eagle 2-4 to ground forces, I am at Bingo fuel and no ammo. I'm returning to base to re-arm and re-fuel. I'll be back before you know it, Eagle 2-4 out." With that, Scott aimed his fighter toward the sky, and roared off, heading for his base in orbit.
BaconShelf
"Roger that Eagle, we can probably bring the dropships from here" Replied Jacob as a barrage of missiles from the SAM hit their target- the U shaped ship which had broken into hundreds of pieces. The last one made it through, and managed to deploy troops in the yard. What weren't killed by the blast of the dropships death were mopped up by the marksmen. "That was too close" He thought
Surveillance
Ivan ran back, mirroring the evil grin. "No, but if we do this, that will make our friends' job so much easier. What do you have in mind?" the Russian asked, excited. He wanted to kick some ass and do some sabotage, and this was a chance. "I mean, we could always destroy every single one except two, and then bring those in from the east and surprise the Covies. Or we can destroy them all."
D-38 Boss
Scott ran to grab a quick bite while he was on the ground. His Squadron members were in the mess as well. His leader waved him over. "Hey! Scott! C'mere!" Scott sauntered over and sat down. "Hey Cap'." "How many you down today, Haskell?" Scott shrugged, biting into his burger. "Not a clue?" Scott shook his head. "Command'll know." He said quietly. He ate in relative silence as his team talked away about their kills. When talking to someone in person, Scott was a complete introvert, not wanting to talk at all. Over a radio, though, he was a lot more comfortable talking to people. He finished his food and rushed back the hangar, finding his Longsword fully re-fueled and loaded. In a few more minutes, he was back in Earth's atmosphere, headed for Jacob's sector.
Mr. Wolfy
Kyro handed Ivan half the C4, "I was thinking the first option, some free tanks might be helpful later, and make sure to wire the C4 so it goes off AFTER they get in the tanks. We'll need to be sure that we inform the captain he'll have two friendly tanks coming in though. I'd prefer not to be gunned down by some rookie marine..." Pausing he took a deep breath then turned to Ivan, "K, let's do this..." He ran towards the edge of the roof and jumped over the small ledge.
Surveillance
"I'm in favor of the first option. Information is critical. I'm ready!" Ivan exclaimed and followed Kyro up the ledge. There he could see about 15 wraiths, with no one to drive them. That would be fixed soon. And the drivers would be dead. "See those two?" the Russian pointed at ones in the far right in the back. "The Covies always take ones that are in the front and seem honorable to take. Wire up every single one except for those. A remote detonator will make it so we don't need timers. My armor has an active camouflage mod, so I'll be quick and quiet. See you back here." He silently jumped off the roof and pressed a button on his wrist gauntlet, which made his body disappear. As long as he moved slowly, he wouldn't be spotted and his camo would stay solid.
BaconShelf
"Eagle squadron, we could really use some-" a large explosion happened, as a third dropship's concussion bolt sent bits of road in the air. "We need air support here, right now! I don't think we can hold off another few waves while they're dropping inside the base!" The radio went static as Jacob fired a burst of his SAW into several elites, ripping to shreds. "All units, emergency at headquarters, recall all units immediately!"
