Trifle10
alright, community, im asking you this, should bipeds be allowed to be forged and places on forge maps. those who dont know, bipeds are the characters and enemies you meet and battle (not including players). bipeds can include grunts, hunters, elites, crawlers, marines, and other npc's (Not Player Controlled) what do you think about the first poll? have you considered what they could be used for? perhaps an ai war where marines spawn on one section of the map, covenant spawn somewhere else, and the promethians spawn somewhere else and they battle each other forever or until the game ends and all the bipeds have the same amount of health as the player perhaps a specific set of bipeds can help with defense type maps where a player has to sneak past some covenant guards, without killing any, and reach the oddball to win perhaps a specific set of bipeds can be used as a flood match. one player vs all those bipeds and the player must try to defeat them all or as many as possible before the player's one life is used up perhaps some bipeds can be used as obstacles that must be dodged in a "halo" styled race perhaps some bipeds can assist with movies ...now about that second poll should the maps with bipeds be used in matchmaking? should they have their own playlist category such as "A.I."? the factors to consider... what types of bipeds are there? (grunts? hunters? watchers?) how much of that biped was placed? (16 grunts? 1 knight? 8 elites?) what role do they play with the match? (attacker? defender? only helps green team? motionless? will they attack or just stand there?) will they affect the match's usual flow? (pistol vs scorpion at 10% damage dealt? will they be placed around a large area of the flag in ctf?) will they count towards any stats? (kills? spartan ops commendations?) consider the following... the gametype is dominion. there are some elites at alpha, some knights at bravo, some hunters at charlie, each team must clear out the base in order to capture it. this prevents teams that speedrun through the match and have all 3 captured in the first minute the gametype is big team slayer. the other team has a just about every vehicle surrounding your spawn base. some allied bipeds come help and give the enemy something to either run from (and maybe get destroyed) or something to focus their attention towards the gametype is king of the hill. 10 grunts with various weapons spawn at various spots on the map. they fight against every player for the hill. this can be effective against players who help each other in FFA or players who have nothing to fight while waiting for the hill to move the gametype is grifball. you know for a fact that the enemy team is great at rushing and tends to own those who stand in their way. you also know that your team isnt on their A-game and is lacking defense. 8 elites will keep on respawning. 4 of those elites help your team while the other 4 help the other team. the elites have no weapons but have double health and no shields. the elites can only melee and do normal (100%) damage. the elites dont just fight each other most of you are probably going to reply with "no" or "depends" and most likely your going to say "this is not for matchmaking"
Maestro
The bot issue has come up a few times, what with people wanting to make their own Spartan Ops and/or Firefight maps. The reason why bots have not been incorporated except in the form of stationary auto-turrets is simply because bots are incapable of pathfinding on their own. For example, if you manage to launch an Elite onto a high ledge but he survives the launch, he will stand there and shoot at you if you stray too close. We think it's logical to just jump down and continue on our merry way, but the Elite has no path down from said ledge. One would have to program paths for the AI to take, where they can or can't venture, which is something the average Joe cannot easily do. Bots are something a lot of people want to toy with in forge, but as Bungie said, the tech simply isn't there. I doubt 343 Industries will say anything different. :/
BaconShelf
This isn't Garry's mod. Forge is a map editor, not a game creator.
AbandonedCashew
If 343i had a few billion more dollars and 5 more years before Halo 5 it might happen. But sadley, you know.
Zandril
Yes. But only in custom games. I don't think they would work well on Matchmaking. Unless it's on a special gametype where you like have to protect your team's NPC and to win, you must kill the NPC of the enemy team. Trifle10
custom games only. Unless it's on a special gametype where you like have to protect your team's NPC and to win, you must kill the NPC of the enemy team. you basically defined a much better ctf. and yea it would be cool for custom games This isn't Garry's mod i have no idea what garrys mod is bots are incapable of pathfinding on their own what if there was a catergory called "biped pathfinder". there would be blocks that act as the line. they would be anywhere from _ by 1 to _ by 10. once their all placed, you can test to see if you like the chosen paths If 343i had a few billion more dollars and 5 more years... well said...remember this was just a theory
