The PS4 sold 250k units in the same timeframe in the UK. Keep in mind UK got the PS4 on Nov. 29th Poor Nintendo, they need to turn this thing around... Nintendo could care less they're still making money and have already opted out of the console war. The Wii U is a much more casual console aimed for a different audience while also including some hardcore interesting titles as well as exclusives. Actually the XBox had a head start in the UK. It was released on the 22nd, where as the PS4 didn't get released until the 29th in the UK.
