Guts
They may come back in time. The Gravemind tried to infect Earth - failed, infected High Charity - blown up and finally tried to infect the ring - blown up. As stated in Halo 3, this would only slow the Flood and not destroy them. They are there somewhere rebuilding. Rest of the species? I don't understand. We are not 343 we just a fansite. If 343i is going to bring back the flood for single player it needs to make sense. We want good lore and storytelling not old tropes and cliches(I.e the flood always being in main Halo games) You do know they never denied that the flood are still alive right? If anything you should know 343i has expanded on the story of the flood with the novels and we all the flood can never be so easily wiped out. If you're going to claim they need to bring something back at least have better reasons then the species bungie introduced. If you knew anything about the Halo lore you would know the current state of the other alien races not present in Halo 4.
ShockGazm
The flood were in Halo 1,2 and 3. It's the Promethean's turn to wreak havoc upon the universe and what not. But, I do like the flood, it's zombies... what's not to like.
Son Of Anarchy
I would love to see the Flood return. I want them to be more like the Halo 2 flood though, where they were actually hard to kill unlike Halo 3 or CE where it barely took any effort to kill one. That's why I liked Halo 2 the best. I don't know what game you were playing, in Halo CE they had a ridiculous amount of health and they always revived no matter what. With the information we got in Silentium I think they could make a comeback, and maybe go beyond the flood.
RedStarRocket91
in Halo CE they had a ridiculous amount of health and they always revived no matter what. That's perhaps accurate on Legendary, but on anything lower the Flood really weren't all that hard - especially if you could get your hands on a Shotgun, which could one-shot them even at medium range and usually blew off enough body parts to stop them reviving. Heck, even hosing them down with the Assault Rifle was usually sufficient, the only real problem was that it wasn't possible to score headshots on them, and even then the effectiveness of other weapons usually made that unnecessary. That said, I'm hoping any future instalments of Halo really make use of the Xbox One's power, not to just make a slightly prettier game, but instead to provide a dramatic increase in the number of AI characters in any encounter. Instead of twenty or thirty Infection Forms plus ten or twelve regular Combat Forms, I'd really like to see literally dozens of Flood actively engaging the player: they don't really have to be all that hard to kill individually, but they need to make the player feel constantly under pressure from the sheer weight of numbers. A bit more diversity of forms would be nice, too: I'm really hoping to see infected indigenous lifeforms, sort of like the Pure Forms from Halo 3 but as separate, more specialised variants.
