Michael Ojeda
Sorry guys if this is in the wrong section. I'm new here. This is something that has been giving me a bit of confusion. I haven't read any of the Forerunner saga books so forgive me if this has been answered but do Forerunners have 5 fingers or 6 on each hand? It is notable that the Didact had 6 fingers on each hand but the Librarian only had 5. Does anyone know the reason to this? Even in Halo on the level Sacred Icon, there was a terminal with 6 fingers on it. Does it vary per gender? I remember watching Halo legends and a forerunner put his hand on a terminal and he only seemed to have 5. Would love some clarification please
rrhuntington
Most Forerunners would go through mutations that would follow their certain rate or caste system. This could make different classes of forerunners look very different from one another. The Didact has 6 fingers, while The Librarian has 5. The reason for this is because Didact was a Warrior-Servant, and The Librarian was a Life Worker, and their separate class called for separate mutations. The mutations would be anything from increased height, to an extra thumb. However, I am unaware of what classes get the extra thumb besides warrior-servant. The six handed terminals could have been reserved for six fingered classes only. Although that makes me wonder, how did the humans get in the library and beyond in Halo 2, if they only had 5 fingers? I guess the doors were just magically opening because they were human. There are more holes in this than Swiss cheese. Fingers list Humans- 5 (hopefully obvious) Sanghelli- 4 (two fingers and two thumbs) Forerunners- 5 or 6 (and could vary even farther than that)

You can put a 5 fingered hand in a 6 fingered slot and still make the door open if the terminal is disigned that way. This might also explain how humans are able to open it.
