Pro Surf
Here's some of my Halo street cred: I've gotten every Halo Achievement to date, the highest level and maintained a mininmum 2 k/d ratio in every Halo game. With that said, I know Halo. And this is what I believe is wrong with Halo 4: 1. No 6v6 playlist - not even Dominion any more..... which is a gametype commendation. I'd really be chapped if I hadn't finished it already. 2. Backing Out - I generally have a decent team running with me but it takes us 20 mins to actually play a game because everyone backs out when they see our k/d / lvl. What ever happened to manning up and sticking through a game? If you backed out of a Halo 3 ranked game, for any reason, your lvl dropped. We're catering to children here... 3. Balanced Weapons - Again, we're catering to scrubs when we let an assault rifle at mid range consistenly beat a what would be perfect 4 shot BR. Also, insta-kill boltshot on spawn? At least make it like the Mauler where you needed a shot and a whack, adding a touch of skill to the kill. 2 shot BR with damage boost? Get out. 4. Horrible Host Selection - If someone isn't in North America, $10 says they're host. Then they quit out and it gives host to the person who is most likely to quit out next.... and so on. 5. The Indestructable Mongoose - It's as strong as a Mantis. Honestly, to get a "vehicle destroyed" medal on a mongoose is virtually impossible. 6. Unreal Commendation Expectations - I had a friend just spend 20+ hours on killing Crawler Snipers. One example out of 20. 7. Missing Game Types - Mainly Assault, 1 Flag and Territories... but for these game types we would need unbalanced, non-symetrical maps and since children need things to be fair, symetrical maps are all we get. 8. Gametype Ranking System - Everyone needs to get on their computer/phone/tablet to find out what their rank is in a certain playlist... Just throw it up there. Although it might make people back out faster if they see a bunch of flaming 50's.... 9. Plasma Grenade Magnetism - Catering to children again. I remember when a stick was hard to get and gave major bragging rights over friends. Aside from my personal gripes, I really enjoy Halo 4. I still play it quite frequently and can't wait until the next Halo comes out! Cheers!
Azaxx
I'm just gonna add my thoughts to the points; I'm quite disappointed they took away Dominion also, not only did 343i talk it up so much but it was one of the most popular playlists. And your comment about the commendations reminds me that I haven't finished it for Dominion and now can't because they took it away. I stand by the Halo 3 punishments for backing out, taking away exp/levels is the best thing to do because it promotes game completion. Though for myself, I prefer to finish any game because most of the time I get a large amount of kills and I like to see those added to my stats at the end of the day. Halo 4 in my opinion has very balanced weapons.... only when no powerups are in play. That 2 shot kill BR is absolute garbage, no weapon should ever be that powerful when it has a large ammunition supply with it. When powerups are not in play though, I find the weapons to be fine. What the next Halo titles must have is dedicated servers, host selection is awful. I come from Australia, and anyone hosting in other countries may bring lag to me, which then in turn affects everyone else. No host can ever be perfect because the players rely off it. An extremely large amount of servers worldwide is a must. Mongoose dies practically instantly, I have no idea why you're comparing it to the Mantis. Commendations are there to prove dedication and work, not easy point getting. I don't have a problem with hard to get commendations like that or the Perfection commendation, just as long as there are easy commendations that anyone could get. Assault and Territories not being in the game is a big bummer for me personally, especially Assault because it was one of the most popular gametypes in Halo 3 from my understanding. I found it one of the best 'unique' gametypes that meaning that the main aim wasn't to kill, as for territories I found that fun to have a break from the standard slayer gametypes. 343i's reason for not having a visible 1-50 ranking system was to stop harassment in game lobbies. But you know the best way to fix harrassment, block the person. Can't believe that 343i were dumb enough not to realise that, if they did, they're just plain stupid. I personally can't stick anyone to save my life, so for me, that is still true from the earlier Halo titles, lul.
Pro Surf
Nice Enigma. Seems like we agree on alot. But really, look under your commendations and see how many mongoose kills you have. I agree that it is incredibly easy to kill someone on a mongoose, but to have that mongoose blow up and get a "vehicle destroyed" medal and a point on your commendations is insanely difficult. Unless you purposely put shots into just the goose, then laser it dead on, it won't blow!
Snipeside
When I first started playing H4, I absolutely loved it. After the game stopped being considered as a 'new game' and saw how people reacted to it, I stopped feeling that way. However, I went back to other Halo titles for some old fun only to realize that it was time to move on. H3 days were over, Reach has come only to pass and of course H4 is here now. I accepted all of the things I didn't like about the game and just started playing to have fun. If you have been playing since H2 or H3, you're probably looking for those old competitive vibes which contributed to the beauty of Halo in every way. Those vibes have been crushed by other games and new features that 343 put into H4. Since I have moved on with my life, I no longer need that competitive aspect. Just enjoy the game and accept that the titles before H4 are old now. If not, H3 will be waiting for you like it always will. Such a beautiful game. o Mike the TV o
My one big issue with Halo 4 is the fact that i paid for the GOTY edition after buying the original game and finding that there isnt a playist specifically meant for dlc. I shelled out an additional 40 bucks and its rare for me to be playing on a dlc map. If you could add a playlist for slayer and objective game modes on dlc maps it would be greatly appreciated. I would also like to add that I am for some of the more classic playlists like assault, 1 flag, and territories as well as multi team and I fully support the idea of penalizing players that choose to back out. Still its a great game and i hope to see further additions and improvements to halo 4 in the future.
ShockGazm
Personally, I'm 50/50 over the making of Halo 4 and if it was a good idea. I'm still not that big on Halo 4 as I though I would be from my experience with all the other Halo games, I play it every now and then, but to me, Halo 4 is a desperate cash grab. You can't just bring a brand new team in make a new trilogy that was a classic by a team who gave it so much love. Halo 4 doesn't give me that feeling the old Halo's did. Reach just about managed to give me that Halo feeling from back in the day but not with Halo 4, not to say the game was bad but when I really think about it, I think Halo 4 should have held off. Halo 4 should've come out this year for next gen. After Halo 3, a lot of gamers were curious as to what would happen next, and whilst the campaign to Halo 4 was really good, it could've held off for longer to get gamers really pumped up for it. That's just me. Maybe it was a good idea to bring Halo 4 out, as any issues or disliked features with the game will be known and can ultimately be fixed or changed in Halo 5. Only time will tell and I really hope 343i give us what we want from Halo 5, not just ranking systems etc but that reminiscent feeling the Old Halo's gave us. Shun 'Kanamee
Meh, I have played Halo 4 and I personally feel like it is the worst Halo game. but I would still give it a 6.75 out of 10. It is not THAT bad.
Coldfreeze
Halo 4 brought a lot of change that in my opinion was needed. The loadouts work fine, besides the boltshot being a load out weapon. I love the whole BR vs AR vs DMR. It gives me the oppurtunity to compete with my prefferences against someone elses prefferences. The biggest let down for me is the music, I just mis the Mjolnir theme. MP has been greatly improved since the launch of the game, evening out the loadout weapons. The other thing that is bothering me is the weakness of the vehicles, the mongoose is almost indestructible, while a warthog is an easy kill. Flying a Banshee is patience and attacking from a distance, not the terror bringing angel of doom it used to be. the game is also missing an UNSC based flying vehicle. The game is fresh Halo with some (to me) minor changes, it keeps the base game, but changed the art style, music and some of the weapons. (I mis the old needler sound) but I love the game. I think Reach was the end of what Bungie could do with Halo and luckily 343i is doing the best they can.
Ikillu32
Theres only a couple things that bother me about halo 4. One thing is, I can't find oddball anymore, i heard it was moved to big rumble but even before medal madness replaced it (until march 17th) it wasn't in there. Its my favorite game type and i have the most commendations in it by far. The other thing is, its impossible to get the fotus, locus, or deadeye helmet. Unless you got a code from a pre order, a limited edition console, bought it on ebay, or whatever else theres no way to get them. There should be other ways to get them. Like someone devoted enough to get to SR130 deserves it instead of some emblems or whatever. Or at least make it a DLC.
Half_Nalgene
I feel like the biggest thing that ruins H4 is ordnances which ruin the sportsmanlike quality of Halo team slayer, like giving power ups to NBA players -- Why?? Halo really doesn't need to innovate; it fits a niche that H4 could have gotten perfect. 343 just tried to do too much. As for people backing out, I think you have to be sensitive to other people's playing styles, as many might feel as if they are at a disadvantage going against a team guys on mic. If everyone is talking except 2 people, they will naturally feel left out and probably will feel like the team objective is becoming mixed up with people's personal lives. I personally don't advocate much for delevelling much, but a ranking system would be nice to include to some degree. I think it would be good to the extent that it caters to everyone's needs without being a huge influence, like for instance a max rank player with .5 k/d would never be matched against a max rank with 2.0 k/d. <-- this would be overboard on rankings, imo. Really it should have a less significant impact on matchmaking, i guess.
zRexx
Problems with Halo 4 Matchmaking In A Nutshell: •Personal Ordnance (allows power weapons to be HANDED to you, is this a game for babies? it also makes matches more reliant on luck as one guy can get a puny concussion rifle while a guy on the other team can get an incineration cannon for the same exact amount of points!!) •Random Ordnance (makes the game overly luck based, wouldn't be too bad if there were still normal weapon spawns alongside the random ordnance, allowing map control to actually still matter in the game, and on top of that, random ordnance should be low tier power weapons only) •Instant Respawn (it takes approximately 1.3 seconds to kill at the minimum and it takes like 7-8 seconds to fully recharge shields, so if you kill an enemy and they're able instantly respawn where they can immediately kill you with a headshot before your shields have a chance to even slightly recharge, that's just pathetic) •Custom Loadouts + Perks (Why should you be able to customize everything to the point of being able to 1hk at spawn? Seriously? Plus perks take away from one of the main points of halo which is where all players are supposed to be even. Armor Abilities I don't mind as much, at least they're intuitive, but the Perk system blatantly rips off Call of Duty) Problems with Halo 4 Multiplayer In A Nutshell •Sprint (though sprint has been perfected in tetms of gameplay, the overly fast pace doesn't feel like halo at all) •Flinch (the recoil in Halo 4 doesn't really bother me for how it works, as it isn't ruining the game that much it just doesn't feel like halo) •Grenade Indicators (makes it too easy to avoid grenades and sort of nerfs frags overall, I think the grenades being followed by a short trail of light is good enough)
Jack Of Harts
1. I will definitely agree with you on that, I loved Dominion and hated it when they took it away. 2. Also, agreed. I hate people backing out, but then again players joining mid-game does help rebalance teams if a team is short a few players. 3. I find the weapons to be perfectly balanced. An Assault Rifle is easy to counter, all you need to do is take them out at long range. An Assault Rifle is useless anywhere further than mid-range. 4. The next Halo will bring dedicated servers so that will be fixed. 5. Even if it was strong, it has little to no protection, so just shoot the enemies off. 6. I have no problem with high commendations, as it makes the game last longer. 7. I will agree, I miss those gametypes. 8. That is also true, but at least we have a competitive skill rank system. It may not be in-game, but at least 343i acknowledged that we wanted a skill-based rank system so it is fair to assume that it will return in Halo 5, this time in-game. 9. Yes, very true. Plasma Grenades should not be available at spawn, they are overpowered. But then again, in the previous Halo games, they were really easy to find anyway and I had no problems sticking people in those games. Rue
I'm in complete agreement with the losing experience and skill points for quitting a game. Just yesterday I found that it was only I and one other spartan on a team in BTB against the entire other team. I stayed for the whole game, but we really didn't stand a chance. My k/d ratio was significantly impacted. I'm not completely againts the ordinance drops, a lot of you around the forum have been complaining about how it takes away the skill factor in the game. I think that it provides opportunity for less skilled players. ~ Sprint is one of the awesomest features in the game to me, the fact that mobility gives you unlimited sprint is another plus. ~ One of the things about H4 that I hate is that after you get hijacked, you are temporarily slowed so that you can barely react at all. By the time you are able to react it's mostly too late, and the hijackers have either splattered you or blown you to kingdom come. Overall I think that Halo 4 isn't the best halo, but is still very awesome though :
OMG Treason
It is a good Halo, now. At launch it was pretty bad and I think they waited to long to implement changes.
Zoob
Argument invalid you don't have all the Halo 2 pc achievements. Yeah, I believe the game is pretty bad compared to what it could have been.
Eqwinoxe
#1 Problem I have. Having people stay in a tank on Heavies, and have them destroy all team vehicles, and you in the process.. #2 People just don't know how to play the objective. Example: I was in a match of Swat CTF(hate that play style), I had the flag ready to get point, but no, my team wanted to diddle, and not worry about our flag, and I had to wait 35 secs. when it should be 3, as they were all around the flag. They just walked off, and I wound up getting killed. Story of my life...^^ GG Halo GG
Richard John Wilson
I think Halo 4 biggest problem is its CoD loadouts. Most of the things are not even needed and some do not even belong in the game. Wheelman for instance, is a neural chip that makes vehicles stronger and better. Nope, does not work. Stupid 343 !!! Flinch. How bloody annoying and ridiculous. Who ever thought this up has no idea how to make a Halo game. The character you play is a Spartan, if they are hit in the head with that much force to create a flinch, then surely it is enough for a headshot. It is a Halo game, not a Duck shoot. You even have Scavenger in Halo, called Resupply. Whilst I am not totally against it, it is yet another thing not needed. When you run out or run low, swap, this goes for Ammo too. Why carry extra ammo when you can pick up weapons off dead bods. There are other items for the loadouts that, like I said do not belong or are even needed. I have Stability, for the flinch, it is a waste of a slot I can put some thing more useful in there. But I need it, which saddens me. Before I go, Boltshot. I am really starting to hate this over powered weapon, it is too much, for too little, and it needs powering down.
