Revontheus
Well, guys I have a problem w/ Halo 4 ATM. I'm going to outline everything I did. If I did something wrong, how to fix etc please post. (End Result has to be to play Halo 4 from the Hard Drive without a Play Disc.) So No Disc at all. I have already installed Halo 4 before, and played a lot. My save data is all there etc. Disc 2 has been installed a year ago. However recently my Play Disc got the Perfect Circle Scratch on it. It is unreadable and I could not play Halo 4. I borrowed a friend's H4 Disc and put it in. I installed the game. Once the game finished installing, I took out the Play Disc. I attempted to start Halo 4 through "My Games" but it said Play Disc needed. Is there any way to completely download Halo 4 without a Play Disc or do I need something else? Bump. Sikslik7
No, there is not without buying the game online. It's annoying. The Whole point of installing a disc on your xbox is to prevent scratching (The disc is read to clarify, then the game boots up and the disc stops spinning). You must play with a disc in, unless you download the game from Xbox Live. You need to check to see if you have to pay for it or not (some games back in the day gave you a free digital download after you used a disc in the xbox, but that feature was removed from more recent launches because friends could buy one copy of a game and gt multiple for free. Is not JL
If you have play disc installed, you should be able to play using your scratched disc. The console will check what game it is, then once it sees you have play disc installed and in disc drive it will automatically switch to HDD.Broken disc won't matter by then, so long as it can check the disc is Halo 4 EDIT: IF you're interested, the reason why you cannot play without disc isn't because of a technical problem, it was programmed to not allow you to play with the disc. This is because - think about it. If it was possible to play without it, then a group of 10, 20, 30, 100, 100,000, 100,000,000 people could just buy one game, then share the disc with someone else after they installed it, and pass it on and on and on. They install it, then play it, for free. Edited February 15, 2014 by JL 一年
Jack Of Harts
I'm afraid your only bet is to get your disc repaired. That or get a new disc, and install it to you HDD before playing it, to prevent the problem from happening. Or you could buy it from Marketplace. Those are your only 3 options.
