campaign filling in the gaps

There is a rather large gap in the campaigns mainly halo 3 to 4. What happened maybe 343 can fill that gap there are multiple possibilitys 1 is that the covenant was a gang of a variety of species halo 4 covenant may not even be the covenant at all and who are the new leaders of this group of unknown orgin for people like me who would like to see that gap in a video or clip, mission ect. PLEASE responed or like this idea and if there is more possible outcomes plz do share

They are "covenant" but are a separate rebel faction. If you play spartan ops you see some of there leaders, and what gap between halo 3 and 4. You have to remember that there is a four year gap between the two.

What Yoshi said, Chief and Cortana have been out of it, stuck

on half of the ship in cryosleep. They were MIA, so a lot could

have happened that 343 hasn't told anyone yet. Perhaps the

next halo games will shed some more light.

Halo Spartan Assault is meant to fill the gap as well as the Halo: Initiation comic so we knew the happenings of the events prior to Halo 4

This gap is a very good thing, it leaves a lot of time for new characters to become heroes or villains. It's also a good spot to make 'smaller' Halo games such as Spartan Assault and Halo Wars. There are so many characters that existed in Halo CE, 2, and 3 that weren't in Halo 4, which means that almost every single one of those players have a story that's yet to be told. I'm hoping Halo 5 shows us some of those stories, and hopefully makes room for some new ones too.

Read the Kilo-5 trilogy (Glasslands, The Thursday War and Mortal Dictata) and the Halo: Initiation comic series. They are all set between Halo 3 and 4.

However, here is a brief summary of the Storm covenant; (spoilers)

Jul 'Mdama was a former Covenant warrior who survived the Great Schism. He, and many other Sangheili, wanted to continue the war with the Humans, still believing in the Forerunners as gods. Eventually, a religious group known as the Servants of Abiding Truth began to do underhand deals with ONI- ONI would supply them with Weapons, they would cause a Sangheili civil war. Jul oversaw one of these arms exchanges and was captured by Naomi-010 and taken to ONI Facility 'Trevlyan' (Also known as Onyx, a forerunner Shield World)

 

Here, he was imprisoned, but was allowed to wander with an Engineer escort. He talked with the Huragok, learning about Requirm and the Didact. Eventually, he threatened to blow up a Forerunner temple with his bomb collar if the Engineer refused to let him go through a portal. Huragok are fiercely protective of Forerunner technology, so was forced to let him escape. He was teleported to Hesduros, an out-of-the-loop Samgheili colony that was unaware of the Covenant's collapse. He swore revenge on the UNSC, to which Hesduros gladly accepted. He noticed symbols similar to the ones for Didact and Requiem on Onyx, and eventually pieced together the location of the world. Here, he waited for 3 years for the planet to open, until the Dawn drifted there and started the events of Halo 4.

One of the things I remember reading, was that during the Sangheilli civil war, they attacked the arbitter and that the UNSC Infinity interferred.

 

There has indeed happened a lot between the games.

I did consider adding that in, but I decided that adding that would spoil too much of the novels and require more depth to add in. However, it could be relevant that the Infinity's strike at Sangheilios killed Jul's wife.

His motivations seems to be rage, not religion, it's easy to see. He persuaded Haley the same way, by speaking to her anger instead of her rationality.
