It is an ongoing community event that will last all summer long twice a month where two factions will fight against one another in order to determine the outcome of the war. If you wish to know even MORE about the event read below and all your questions will be answered in full 1080p detail! The Sign Up thread is located here: http://www.343industries.org/forum/topic/35884-tgfw-faction-sign-up-thread -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Factions: General Discussion Republic - A peace-loving yet militaristic empire that uses Forerunner technology to crush all insurrectionists opposition and reclaim all human colonies in the name of Earth as well as benefit the lives of all who live in their Republic. Offbeat Syndicate - Power for the people! They just want their planets and star systems left alone and will fight for their freedom at whatever cost. They are the strongest insurrectionists group and offer an immense challenge for the GDR. They plan on using the Forerunner technology to aid them in their war effort and help improve the lives of poor colonies. Each faction is controlled by 4 commanders which influence things such as what to spend their hard earned faction points on, the propaganda, and other small faction things. You will know the truth of the 8 commanders in the coming days. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Q&A The general Q&A will help explain some details and common questions about TGFW Reveal hidden contents What makes this different from other community events? First off it has an ongoing narrative, and it is the first to actually be ongoing as well. In order for this to succeeded it needs your participation! You help influence the outcome of this war. What Halo games will this be played on? Halo 3, Halo Reach, and Halo 4 will all be supported. Most events will take place in 4, but we want everyone to have a chance to be a part of it! What gametypes/maps will we play? Most maps will be stock maps since they are already tested and balance and everyone can easily know the map layout so it gives teams a fair advantage. As for gametypes that will differ. It will be a mix of Slayer and objective. Mostly objective since we want to reword good team work and not good gunskills(although both help in the grand scheme of things) When will the events happen? Twice a month most likely on Saturdays around different times to give everyone a chance to play and let other people still have time to host their own events. The normal schedule will be the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month but things change. Each individual match will be announced separately to avoid confusion. How long will this last? Until September but things change so it might be longer or shorter. How do I sign up? There will be a draft thread posted soon and all you have to do is sign up there! From then you will be assigned into a faction. After you are assigned a faction whenever there is an upcoming TGFW event you sign up for that indiviual one like you would a normal event and when the day comes you will be placed into your faction team for that game. Aww I want to choose my own faction! That isn't even a question but sorry this is to keep things balanced and fair and make sure that one faction doesn't have more members then the other. However if you really want to be part of the General Discussion Republic or Offbeat Syndicate and chances are we will give you that faction. We just want things to be balanced. If I am in Offbeat Syndicate can I play for the General Discussion Republic? No you will stay in your faction team during matches. Unless the teams are uneven you cannot switch teams for that match. But I really don't like the faction I am in!! Can I please change! You can always switch spots with someone from the other faction if they're willing to change as well. But once you change over to the other faction don't expect to be changed again Hey I can't make it to the event? Do i still sign up? If you want to participate in ANY of The Great Forum War events you MUST sign up in the draft thread and you will be given a faction. Please remember that each individual event will have their own individual sign up thread like any normal event. You will sign up to attended that event from there. Will we know what maps/gametypes/game we are playing on before the event? Yes you will. The entire playlist rotation(which includes maps, gametypes, game) will be on each individual event post. That way you know what you know what you will be fighting over before it started. How do I know who is in what faction and what maps each faction controls and the progress of the war? There will be a single master post detailing all this information and continuity updated after each event You said there will be a story. Will each event influence the story? Yes each event will be followed by a "soldiers journal" retelling the events that happened during that playdate. They will help indicate the progress of the war and add to the story. If you want to write one of the Soldiers Journals just PM me but you MUST attended the event you want to write for. (There will also be different formats for telling the story of each event as well) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technical Q&A Do you want to know how TGFW works? Then this is for you! Reveal hidden contents Can you elaborate more on commanders? They are your leaders. They will be the face of the faction and guide you to victory. What are points? What do they do? How are they earned? Points are earned for every faction victory. They are a currency that the faction commanders can use to buy special bonuses that will influence the match. Some examples include changing the gametype or adding vehicles to their side of the map. They can also be used to hire mercenaries like GSD Yes they can be unfair so do your best to win. How many maps are played per game? This changes depending on the amount of players but normally up to 5 - 7 maps will be played. How many players can join a lobby? The current lobby cap is 14 to prevent lag and have the best possible connection but if enough people wish to join it can be moved to 16. Can maps be replayed? Yes and No. Only keen important story maps have the option to be replayed but other then that once a faction wins they control that map. What are "important story maps" ? These maps are maps like "Faction Home Base Map" or "Faction Guardpost map" How does a faction win the war? The faction will have to win enough games that they end up playing against a "Faction Guardpost Map". After said faction wins the the two matches on the opposing "Faction Guardpost Map" they have the chance to invade the Faction Home Base Map. If they win and successfully invade they won the war. (This might change and also don't worry because there are enough maps to be played that you won't reach the end till around September) This event truly needs your cooperation to make it happen. When you sign up with that you will be given a faction. Afterwards each date will have their own sign up thread like any normal event.
