bspacerad
Recently I have noticed that I can not hear opposing teams on halo reach, I am generally playing in team slayer. I noticed this about two weeks ago and I thought it may be my mic because it was breaking, so I got a brand new one and started to use it, I swear I was able to hear the opposing team for about a day however, last night I was playing and I could not hear the opposing team. Randomly I was able to hear one person of the four (one game) that were on the opposing team, I would mark this up to my account having a Mic ban however, I noticed that I could still see the other teams mic symbols, and I'm pretty sure if someone is "auto mute" then the mic symbol goes away doesn't it? I know other people were talking because I could hear my friend talking to them. Can anyone please enlighten me and please explain what's going on? If I am mute banned is there anyway I can test to verify that, that is indeed the case?
RedStarRocket91
As far as I remember, as long as you're in either the pre- or post-game lobbies, whenever someone speaks you should be able to hear what they're saying. However, when you're in-game although you'll still be able to hear everyone on your own team, you'll only hear what your opponents are saying when you're very close to them and as long as you have the 'proximity voice' feature enabled. If you're beyond a very short range, regardless of how much they talk you won't be able to hear anything: this is intentional, so that you can talk to your teammates without worrying that the other team will overhear your plans. Many players often manually mute people on the other team, so that may also explain why you're having difficulty hearing what they're saying.
bspacerad
Yeah it's in the pre-game that I cannot hear them (when I'm suppose to be-able to) I also cannot hear proximity voice, except for the aforementioned person that I heard last night. I've checked my settings in the xbox menu and also on the halo reach menu.
Rue
Well if you're sure that it's in the pre-game lobby that you can't hear, it sounds like a very interesting case indeed. Have you tried playing Halo 4 at all and seeing if the results are the same to your Reach experience? For me in Halo 4 I've never been able to hear the other team at all during the match. As soon as the teams are divided, I'm unable to hear them. Maybe that's the same with you?
