Beethoven117
Locke initally is looking for Master Chief, but something causes him to leave ONI then aligns himself with the Arbiter, They find Chief and Chief decicdes to fight with them, The diact returns along with the flood casuing Chief,Locke, and The Arbiter having to overcome ONI/The Promtheans/the Covenant Remanant/The Flood. Fishy
Seems reasonable. Care to show all your resources to explain your theory? If you can do so, I will leave my personal opinion about the topic. Until then, enjoy yourself.
The Director
Locke is looking for Master Chief because ONI believes he went AWOL to look for a way to stop the Didact. Locke started off his journey by interviewing those who fought with Master Chief and knew him the best. He interview's the Arbiter because other than Cortana (who is gone) and SGT. Johnson (who is dead), the Arbiter is the one who fought by Master Chief the longest. Since the human's and the Arbiter are at peace, he is able to do this. I believe that Locke doesn't find Master Chief in this Halo game. And when he does find Master Chief, he finds out that Master Chief wasn't looking for a way to stop the Didact, he was looking for The Librarian after learning of the possibility she may still be alive. The reason he's looking for her is because she may be able to repair or bring back Cortana. We then discover that the Didact is still alive and is planning on going back to war with the humans. Something like that.

The Director
Didn't I completely said the same at your thread of ask the Director, about Cortana? Not quite, no. Okay here it goes. In my theory Cortana is still alive, she has been "jacked"by the Librarian. I imagine the Librarian being able to copy or clone cortana, herself there being a digital representation of what she once was. What if the Cortana which sacrifices herself in the end, was the the small sane part left in all her rampancies, what if the Librarian took the most sane part of her and hid it away, transfered it to another place or data storage (much like a share on a network these days.) It also explains the theoretically going rogue state of the chief, in the first trailer his visor is cracked, him grasping the empty data chip which once held his best friend, his partner. In the MCC trailer we see spartan Locke who is being explained that to find him, you need to step in his shoes. What if the Chief got a small glimpse of hope, a message, a sign? My question to you is, what is your stand on Cortana's passing, is there still a glimmer of hope left? Here's my response: It's a possibility that she is still alive, but I wouldn't put too much stock in it. The Librarian was more known for organic beings and not Artificial Intelligence, so the odds of your theory being correct aren't very good. My stance is that yes there is a glimmer of hope for Cortana, but there isn't enough information available yet to say for sure. In this thread I am asserting that he is looking for the librarian for her expertise in AI. Not because she HAS Cortana, but because he believes she can repair her or can bring her back. Melody
Judging from the trailer, I would think the Didact is going to play a big role within the story. Oh, and still standing my ground on Cortana coming back. But yes, the things you listed does seem possible.
Connor Kenway
I suspect it'll be a multi faction fight too but we have to wait for Nightfall to confirm the flood theory
Caboose The Ace
^ We also know there is a Flood spore on the Spirit of fire so that could also play a part.
Azeraph
Only one person in fleet knows where or for what he's gone after because he sent him, Hood who knew that Osman wanted the chief for detailed invasive medical examination to determine what the librarian did and how to replicate it. Hood sent him on extended leave and when he was declared AWOL Locke was brought in by Osman to track him. 4 other spartans disappear not long after the chief goes missing and soon Hood is arrested on suspicion of duplicity. Locke suspects that what the librarian did also made the chief immune to the new element that he had a hand in finding. Cortana doesn't come back in this one though the chief is wracked with nightmares of her. Hood knows that the didact is still out there and he needs to be tracked before he returns with more destructive power or with the flood. Edit Just read the issue 8 of escalation and that throws my theory right out the door but at least we know why the chief goes missing. Azeraph
In this game they should only have to deal with the flood from out lying colony worlds of the ex-covenant races or snippets of reports of flood infection reaches the unsc. They really need to get a handle on the timeline.
