I_Make_Big_Boom
(pictured-above) The... Helghast or something (don't know anything about Killzone ) On Gamespot (where the cool kids hang out) it was revealed that a Class-Action Lawsuit... (I don't dabble in Law, so I wouldn't know about it. You can view the Lawsuit poster person's name in the original post linked below) ...was filed against Sony Computer Entertainment America!!! I will be quoting Gamespot on this so sorry for article correlation (it's hard to re-word this), and praise them for the original article (or whoever posted this first)... prepare... for the QUOTES... and a huge wall of text... Shadow Fall's impressive graphics According to Gamespot, the lawsuit is about,"-consumers [who] were misled by the company's claims that the Playstation 4-exclusive Killzone: Shadow Fall features 1080p graphics in its multiplayer mode-". IMO I never cared about Resolution, but let's continue... on March 6th an SF Producer on Killzone.com posted a Q&A, and it clarified how Shadow Fall uses some sort of program thing called Temporal Reprojection: which the lawsuit claims to bring the game into a state which mimics 1080p, but is not full 1080p (sounds fishy). Original quote by Killzone.com: "In both SP and MP, KILLZONE SHADOW FALL outputs a full, unscaled 1080p image at up to 60 FPS. Native is often used to indicate images that are not scaled; it is native by that definition." "In Multiplayer mode, however, we use a technique called “temporal reprojection,” which combines pixels and motion vectors from multiple lower-resolution frames to reconstruct a full 1080p image. If native means that every part of the pipeline is 1080p then this technique is not native." "Games often employ different resolutions in different parts of their rendering pipeline. Most games render particles and ambient occlusion at a lower resolution, while some games even do all lighting at a lower resolution. This is generally still called native 1080p. The technique used in KILLZONE SHADOW FALL goes further and reconstructs half of the pixels from past frames." "We recognize the community’s degree of investment on this matter, and that the conventional terminology used before may be too vague to effectively convey what’s going on under the hood. As such we will do our best to be more precise with our language in the future." A lawsuit over THESE graphics? The suit (by my good old undisclosed gamer... or gamers... Gamespot did not clarify that) was filed in a U.S. District Court in California on August 5th, and claimed le Gamers, "quickly noticed and complained that Killzone's multiplayer graphics were blurry to the point of distraction.". (<--- is it correct grammar to have 2 dots?) I never paid attention to Killzone, but Gamespot says Sony (and Killzone.com, as stated above) claimed Shadow Fall would offer 1080p Graphics for Multiplayer, and even had the 1080p label on the Game Box. [insert witty comment here] Gamespot goes on to say that the Gamer (the one... the only) is "seeking to prevent Sony from continuing to advertise the game as being 1080p, and is looking for damages-" which sums up to the pile'o'cash of $5 million +. Now that is overkill. The Lawsuit goes on to say "Because of the dozens of reports about Killzone's next-generation multiplayer graphics, along with the unqualified '1080P' label on the game's consumer-facing technical specifications, over 2 million consumers purchased Killzone: Shadow Fall ~ Unfortunately, Sony's marketing and on-box representations turned out to be nothing more than fiction." Sony apparently declined to comment on this due to policy. I'll update the topic when they do. - - - - - That brings an end to that... so let's recap: 1: Some dude sues over lack of full 1080p graphics in Killzone: Shadow Fall 2: The same guy wants to prevent Sony from posting false information relating to 1080p 3: Tortillas I think the Lawsuit is somewhat a load of malarky. I mean suing someone is one thing, but 5 Mil? That's crazy. I know they are trying to get an impact on Sony, but I think they could have easily done it with a lower $ count. It makes me think it's a cash grab. BUT, I have not played Killzone: Shadow Fall (or counted pixels) and I wouldn't know if SF is actually 1080p. If it isn't then I guess shame on them for false advertising. Update: Oh, and I didn't post a synopsis recap of Shadow Fall like my Evolve article because I don't really like Killzone, and it would take too long for me look up all the info (and by this time I've already spent like an hour on this). - - - - - Thoughts? Buns
Technically he is 100% right on this case. I hope he doesn't actually win because then more people will start doing this. I think he is actually suing them because the game was so bad.

Caboose The Ace
I have to admit I really liked this game, in my opinion it is the best fps campaign I have ever played. But really, have people not got anything else they could complain about these days?
I_Make_Big_Boom
I think there's a gap at the top because of the MoM label. I have to admit I really liked this game, in my opinion it is the best fps campaign I have ever played. But really, have people not got anything else they could complain about these days? Is not JL
Temporal Reprojection sounds stupid, considering it's not like this game's graphics are going through time or anything.
Surveillance
Temporal Reprojection sounds stupid, considering it's not like this game's graphics are going through time or anything. I agree, because it doesn't reflect what it actually does.
Guts
We'll just have to see how this plays out
Vaulting♥Frog
While suing for false advertisement is all well and good the amount of damages they are trying to collect is fairly unrealistic. While it is up to the individual to decide how much harm the issue caused I just cant see having a lack of true 1080p graphics causing $5 million in damage to the individual. You pay what, $60 for the game plus tax (US prices). Perhaps $1,000 for a TV of extremely high quality, $500 for the console and lets say a monthly electric bill to pay for those things of $50 a month for 24 months (2 years). That is a grand total of $2,760 (US). I am not sure this qualifies for $4,997,240 in "pain and suffering". Note these are just random costs I pulled out of thin air based upon my perception of what it would cost for a brand new high end TV, console, game and the power to run those things for 2 full years. That alone should be enough in my eyes but that's just me.
