I_Make_Big_Boom
H2A: Lockout concept art Today it was officially announced (Gamespot seems to be the main source) that Lockout (Lockdown in H2A) will be the 5th map remake in Halo 2: Anniversary (which is inside Halo: The Master Chief Collection like those weird dolls that can be crammed inside of each other). Lockdown resides in the Halo 2 Anniversary MP along with Sanctuary (Shrine), Coagulation, Zanzibar, Ascension (Zenith), and the 2 final unannounced maps (which seemingly will be revealed at PAX, or later). On Gamespot, a Representative from Microsoft wrote: "As one of the flagship Halo 2 tournament maps, Lockout was home to a wide host of game types, including Free-for-All, Oddball, King of the Hill, 1-Flag CTF, and of course, Team Slayer. Get ready to return to this classic battleground as Lockdown, part of the Halo 2 Anniversary multiplayer experience in Halo: The Master Chief Collection." Original Lockout from Halo 2 Lockdown from Halo 2: Anniversary Max Hoberman, one of the lead designers on the original Halo 2 MP and President of Certain Affinity, wrote (yet again on Gamespot), "Lockout was hands-down the most popular small arena-style map in Halo 2. We're thrilled to be bringing this fan-favorite back, and are paying close attention to the details and subtleties that made the original great while also making a couple of very careful, very calculated enhancements." "Most prominent among these are a bit of cover added to the 'Elbow' , the long walkway connecting the grav lift to the sniper tower, and a dynamic element that should help counter an entrenched group of enemies. Of course this can be disabled in Forge for players who want a near-match of the original experience." UPDATE: An image of the loading screen for Lockdown has been revealed by some dude on Twitter (and conveniently posted on Halo4Nation). https://twitter.com/arCtyC/status/505402507343179776 The image itself shows the loading screen (like I just said), the layout of the new Lockdown, the Lockdown concept art in the background, and finally the tiny Halo 2: Anniversary "2)" logo in the lower left corner. Description for Lockdown: "Some believe this remote facility was once used to study the Flood. But few clues remain amidst the snow and ice." Now we know those mutant freaks in the storage containers (in the picture below) are Flood. Here's more screenshots and comparisons of H2A Lockdown, and the original Lockout: And here we have Flood containers - - - - - Well that's that. If you haven't been paying attention at all, Max Hoberman specifically stated that the Dynamic Element of H2A Lockout can be disabled (like the other map remakes) in Forge. This weekend at PAX 343i will be going into depth about The Master Chief Collection's Forge aspects, along with some MCC Tournaments, so keep an eye out! Connor Kenway
This was probably the most obvious map to be remade in my books since it is a classic Halo 2 map. It looks really great although I'm not too sure on the green lighting :/ the things in stasis though... I have a feeling the dynamic map feature will be something to do with them. Nice find SD
Cooliest
Got some gameplay which shows off the Dynamic feature to the map. Pretty cool imo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtcTwVhfLQY&list=UUbu2SsF-Or3Rsn3NxqODImw

Midnight 0cean
I'm glad 343 decided to remake Lockout. It, along with Midship, were probably some of the best team slayer maps on H2. BTW the remake looks great. I can't wait to see what the final map will be.
Caboose The Ace
Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen. This map was pretty obvious it was going to have a remaster though, being as big as a fan fav as it is.
Drizzy_Dan
This looks fantastic, a very good modernization of Lockout. So much potential coming up in H2: A and MCC.
HIWBC
So, so good, it's so surprising how much graphics capabilities have moved on since the original Halo 2's release. I think this will get everybody back to Halo as it looks like they've done a very good job of the game so far and Halo 2 is always one of everybody's favorite Halo's when it comes to online multiplayer, especially the oldschool players. It may also get 343 into everybody's good books once again .
I_Make_Big_Boom
Like Cooliest posted, the Dynamic Element of Lockout was shown in the above video (I'm posting the rundown for those who can't watch the video). Each corresponding "Base" of Lockout has ice over-hanging above them. A Player on either side can shoot the ice above each Base, and huge chunks of it fall down and kill people underneath. And like Hoberman said, it can be disabled in Forge. I'm thinking it's just a Forge Object that is phased, or fixed into a position above the Bases, and it falls when shot at continuously (from my guess). UPDATE: An image of the loading screen for Lockdown has been revealed. Updated the topic accordingly.
SomeCreepinaVan
While a do like it, why must they turn all of the detailed rock matterials into this cheesy lookin smooth chrome walls. Then for Sanctuary they put the ugly glowy gold lighting in and made everything so dark that you can barely see anything. The old maps were beautiful in their simplisity.
