Now that Destiny has released it will be interesting to see if Bungie is capable of surpassing a franchise that they themselves had created. With that said, can Halo compete with Destiny? Let us know below. And for those of you that are interested feel free to check out the corresponding video located below.

I believe so. As I hear surprisingly often, Destiny's campaign is monotonous, short, and quite repetitive, this I myself had seen in the Beta. The multiplayer is decent, fast-paced, and may carry the weight, but is drastically unevened by ranking systems and weaponry, though there are ways to pair up players of equal level and skill, I am sure. I won't say Destiny is bad, it seems to be going side-by-side with Halo 4's judgments, both being new games that were new to the designers, and most likely a test drive. If there is ever a sequel to Destiny, I'm sure it will transcend past the mistakes and even the gameplay itself.

So, yes, they can definitely go head to head.

Destiny being in the mess its in....

Having a shallow Pvp, with no ranking system, terrible rewards and a lack of playlists.

A random loot system.

Terrible customisation.

Awful campaign/story.

Repetitive gameplay.

So yes Halo 5 has more than a chance.... it is a guarantee. :)

There's allloooot of time between now and Halo 5, so maybe the experience will change... like Halo 4 did.

I would put forward that they don't compete with each other, as they are not similar enough to.

Halo:

Story Oriented

Multiple Forms of Media (i.e. books, games, comic books, videos)

Limited Arena Multiplayer (i.e. only 16 players)

Lengthy Single Player/Co-op Campaign

Ability to Customize Maps and Multiplayer Gametypes

Destiny:

Multiplayer Oriented

One Form of Media (for now)

Massive Multiplayer Online

Short Single Player/Co-op Campaign

Set Maps

The games are different enough that people can justify getting them both without feeling as if they are getting the same game. So these two games do not appear to be in competition with each other, as they are too different.

Either way though, Halo is going to make a lot of money, and Destiny may too.

Bungie sold their soul to the devil with Destiny. They probably had their hands forced but all signs point to massive amounts of ON-DISK content being removed from the game and moved to DLC to make up for development setbacks and to make more money.

Halo 5 will easily compete with destiny. Destiny is horrible.

EDIT: To put my thoughts in perspective. I believe Destiny's story is one of the worst that I have ever seen (from any form of media)... but the story is still better than the PvP.

It's not wrong that this is making me happy right?

Halo will be able to compete with Destiny. After all they have been competing with other franchises for years. Would one more game to compete with be impossible? In my opinion no. If they can compete with CoD and Battlefield then surely they will compete with Destiny. There is plenty of time for everything to change also.

Also keep in mind, your putting Destiny in the same category as Halo now.  Destiny is a new franchise and game for Bungie.  To compare it to a Halo on even ground, you would have to compare it better to Halo CE.  The reason is because both were the start of each respectful franchise.  Halo didn't gain books and mass media till years after it was out.  Wait a couple years and see what Destiny evolves into.

Honestly... the better question is: Can Destiny compete with Halo? Yeah, I'm putting a lot of hours into Destiny and I admit it's addicting... but it's a horrible game. Horrible. I swear, the only the reasons I bought it was that I was desperate for Advanced Warfare to come out, and also the peer pressure. But, I had way, way more fun with Halo Reach and Halo 4 than I'm having with Destiny. I'm stuck with a PS4 now, but holy :censored: Halo 5: Guardians and Halo: The Master Chief Collection look so much better than Destiny. I think the mistake most people made with Destiny was: "It's Bungie. I'll trust them". Really, that was a mistake. The only reason any PS players bought Destiny was that that is as close as they will ever get to Halo. But hell no. I admit Destiny is fun, but it's not worth it. I have to force myself to play it, because I've played the hell out of Ghosts. In fat I had more fun with Ghosts. Sad, right? But to sum it up, Halo has far, far more than a mere "chance". Halo will dominate Destiny, and it's repetitiveness.

People were not wrong to bank on Bungie.  Bungie did a great job starting a new franchise with all aspects to the game.  The problem is the people they are making the game for.  Everyone is so quick to judge because the graphics and the gameplay don't match up to Halo.  DESTINY IS NOT HALO!  No new franchise is gonna just pop up and have what Halo transformed into.  Destiny needs time to mature and grow over sequels, and so do the developers.  The better question here is, can Halo continue to stay relevant and competitive in the FPS market and all relevant fps media with newer franchises on the rise?

Anyone who would assume that Microsoft is not worried about the potential Destiny has or other already established FPS games, is in severe need of a good CAT scan.  Just because the first Destiny game didn't equate to what Halo Reach and 4 was, does not make it any less of a threat to other fps titles.  I think the fact that it is considered the underdog, makes it that much more deadly of a franchise.  Hell I'd play borderlands over Reach and 4 any day!

I have played Destiny since day one, and recently slowed down on it.  But, to compare Halo to Destiny would be hard.  Destiny is made by Bungie, the same people that made Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3 and Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach, also in some respect they made Halo 4 (if you count the people that left Bungie to carry on with Halo).  So, there is some history there.

However, Halo made by Bungie had Microsoft backing them and telling them what is and what is not suitable, but mostly, I believe Bungie was left alone to complete the game.  With Bungie, Destiny and Activision, thing's are different, as Activision had more say and more instruction's to add.  To me, this is what has ruined a great game.  So now, we have a good game, that was mean't to be great.

Destiny's Campaign is weak, to say the least.  In my eye's, the game is not even finished.  The game we play today, is not the same advertised and promised.  PvP and PvE are the same, which does not work (in my opinion), following a recen t patch to nerf the Auto's, just because PvP are crying over it's OP status, has in fact changed it's performance in PvE.

A lack of customisation (virtually non exist, actually) and a lack of thing's to buy in the tower, people forced to farm materiel's to upgrade weapon's and armour, which in my opinion does not belong in this game and glimmer cap that is too small.  There seem's to be a lot wrong with this game, yet I do admit, it is still a good game.

Now, compare all this to Halo, and let me compare it to Halo 4.  Halo 4 I stopped play a very long time ago, because, Spartan Op's is not Firefight, Sp-Op's lost it's playability too soon, and mostly because of the load out system.

I stopped playing Halo, as I believe it was ruined by the CoD style load out and the unnecessary thing's in the load out system.  Wheelman, this to me is complete stupid, an implant that make vehicle's better and stronger, even for an arcade this is pure conjecture.  Stability, another stupid addition, why, simply because you are a Spartan.  If you get shot in the head, you either die or just shrug it off, until you are hit in the head again.  Instead, some bright spark decided, if you are hit in the head, you can look up in to the sky, maybe shoot the bird's.  Clearly this person has never played Halo, or has no idea what a Spartan is.

Come to think of it, half of the load out's are so stupid, I am sure the developer's were having a competition to decide on the dumbest load out.  EVER !!!  I believe some of the people that came up with these idea were CoD developer's in their previous job.

To me, Halo is a unique game, so it their load out system.  Stupid idea's have no place in the Halo universe, yet they made it in there anyway.  Halo 5 will be make or break for Halo, and if Halo 4 is any thing to do it the Halo universe, then RiP Halo.  Because a very, very sad day is coming.

I loved Halo, right up to Halo 4.  I like Destiny.  Halo's future might be coming to an end, of which I truly hope not.  Some of my fondest memories stem from playing Halo, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST and Halo Reach (Halo Wars included), for it all to end because of Halo 4 and Halo 5 following suit. Well, a sad day indeed.

Destiny has not started off so well, but it has the chance to one day be the great game it was supposed to be.  Halo, could be on a downhill roll.

Or Halo could be saved, if this is the case, then Destiny Vs Halo.  Halo win's.  Halo has more to offer, and has more depth and a potential to spread.  Expand.
