A new Halo game has just been revealed, Halo: Spartan Strike, it is a top down twin stick shooter just like Halo: Spartan Assault and it is set during the events of Halo 2.

The game has just been revealed by IGN who sat down with 343 Industries producer Fred LaPorte to show nearly ten minutes of gameplay and commentary. The game is set to during the events of Halo 2 and after and is said to have a lot of improvements over Halo: Spartan Assault. Achievements, rewards, challenges and leaderboards are all going to be things players can work towards when they play it.

It is due to come out on December 12th for $5.99 and it is only planned to release for Windows Phone, desktop, Surface tablet and Steam, but if Spartan Assault is anything to go by we could see it on consoles some time after the release date. The game will be available on all Windows 8 platforms and Steam after one purchase

What do you think of this new reveal? Will you be buying Halo: Spartan Strike?

Was not a real big fan of SA. And again a bummer that it won't come to console initially...

I'll just wait untill this one becomes free for gold 2 months after release :hrhr:

But still, nice find Adam!

The Kestrel looks pretty cool, I wonder if we should expect to see it in Halo 5?

I won't be buying this at launch but it is nice to see Halo games being produced on various platforms as we await Halo 5.

Also, a note, I believe the game itself is set 5 years after the events of Halo 2, whereas the story itself begins with the events in Halo 2. Great article Adam! :yay:

Ok hold on so we ran into the Prometheans back during the events of Halo 2? I think this is cool and it's great that they worked on this secretly while we've been hyped about MCC next month and Halo 5 in the near future but I can't say I'm really supportive of that idea. Looks cool though I thought Spartan Assault was a fun game, something that was necessary in the breaks of Halo kind of like Spartan Strike is now.

No it takes place during and after Halo 2 over all. So the parts with the Promeatheans are, at the most, are from as far back as the events of Halo 4 to the present time.

Eh seems okayish. Sa was a massive flop to be honest so I hope this is better and is a decent Twinstick shooter. :)

I wonder what those improvements are.

It says what they are in the video.

Mainly control issues were fixed so they were easier, aiming and precision was made better, the game is longer than Spartan Assault by an hour or two, and there's new features.

Looks interesting. Spartan Assault was fun, so I'll be looking forward to this, especially on my new computer.

People forget that this, like Spartan Assault, is a game designed for phones and tablets. When it gets ported to Xbox, it's still a game for phones and tablets, you just have the convenience of playing it with a controller on a TV. And for a phone/tablet game, they're incredibly fun.

Although the story here seems to be way too backwards. Prometheans in 2552? That the Covenant know about? Don't like the sound of that.

Also, "Warfog" is priceless.

I'm dissappointed that they're continuing with the top-down shooters. As a perfectionist like myself, I have the need to "catch them all" in that I want every installment of the halo franchise... but SA was pretty bad.

Games like SA/SS just make it look like 343 is milking the Halo community with subpar games.
