Connor Kenway
Hey guy's so now that I've had plenty of time to play AC Rogue I thought why not do a review for the forumers? so here we are I'll split the review into parts so lets get into it . 1. Story. I'll keep this as spoiler free as possible. In Assassin's Creed Rogue you play as Shay Patrick Cormac a member of the Colonial Brotherhood of Assassin's (Yay Colonial Assassin's) Shay is pretty chill as an Assassin but then stuff happens his girlfriend breaks up with him and he goes into a state of depression (no not really) and he turns his back on the Assassin's and in turn they try to kill him LOL but then he is helped out by none other than the Templars! that's all I'll say about the events in Rogue but the story is fantastic as it ties to AC Unity and also how the Colonial Brotherhood ended up how we saw it in Assassin's Creed III. 2. Gameplay. Assassin's Creed Rogue has the exact same gameplay as Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag with some changes (the dual swords are now a sword and dagger but function the exact same) such as the fact that you are now being hunted by Assassin's and you have to use Shay's version of Eagle Vision which is basically Edward's crossed with the classic Assassin's Creed Multiplayer compass which shows what direction the Assassin is and that's not all folks! the creepy whispers in Multiplayer are there too. The Assassin's are able to do pretty much everything you did in previous games such as Air Assassinations and smoke bombs to try and kill you. The gameplay has the same feel as AC 4 but with the added bonus of being randomly jumped by Assassin's keeps it feeling somewhat fresh. 3. Naval. The Naval Combat shares many thing's with AC 4 the ship is smaller than the Jackdaw but still feels the same when it comes to sailing. Shay's ship the Morrigan is outfitted with a few noticeable changes that sets it apart from the Jackdaw these are the Burning Oil which is waaay cooler than the fire barrels in AC 4 and instead of the chain shot there is now explosive shot, the Morrigan also has an Ice Breaker ram which comes in handy when there are sheets of ice you need to... break through get it? cos the ice breaker ram breaks ice? although there isn't actually that much ice to break through to get to areas. Ice Bergs are a new addition to the North Atlantic area of sea they can be used to take cover behind or when you destroy them damage enemy ships (destroying an Iceberg insta-kills Schooners and Gunboats). The Morrigan can also be boarded by Assassin ships if you don't brace yer'self when being rammed. 4. Location, Location Location. Rogue has 3 primary locations: New York New York is much better than the last time we saw it, New York has become much more colourful and less of those yucky browns that covered it in Assassin's Creed 3. The city now has Gang HQ's which are bases controlled by gangs and the gang leader is an Assassin who can do everything an Assassin can. Another feature that has returned are renovations so you can get that hard earned cash you need to get new gear. North Atlantic The North Atlantic is the new Caribbean with less pirates and a lot colder, how much colder you ask? it's so cold Shay can't be in the water for too long or else he'll become a Shaysicle. the NA in game is the Eastern coast of Canada where it is always Winter in most areas so there is a good amount of snow except unlike Assassin's Creed 3 the snow doesn't slow you progress as it isn't as deep. River Valley The River Valley functions like the Frontier in Assassin's Creed 3 but add in sailing and you've got the River Valley! I better mention a few thing's as well in both the RV and NA the locations have a really good size compared to some location's in AC IV. The River Valley has it's own share of Forts and Gang HQ's/ Assassin Settlement's Settlement's function like the Borgia Towers in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood where you can't do a heck of a lot unless it's taken care of. the River Valley is nice and green but when you go to the top half of the map you might notice it becomes a bit colder. 5. Audio Like the Assassin's Creed games before it Rogue has great voice acting and a great soundtrack and unlike Unity only the people who are MEANT to have English accents have them so the French have French accents etc. The soundtrack did have a darker feel to it as well to show how Shay's story is have a listen to the Main theme to get an idea of what I mean. 6. Characters. We get to see many familiar faces in Rogue as well as some new one's the Familiars include: Achilles (AC3) Adewale (AC4) and Haytham Kenway (AC3/4) all the characters are well presented and voiced. Shay for example has really good quotes and a nice theme to accompany his more important quotes too! 7. Summary. Assassin's Creed Rogue is a fantastic game although it's campaign is short (6 sequences) it is well done and make's you want to see more of Shay (dlc maybe? Ubi pls) the gameplay is good and the side activities are great as well (forgot to mention those :C) I give AC Rogue a grand rating of: 9/10 If you want me to add anything into the review let me know below. Thanks for reading bbys.
TWD26
Jesus how many of these games are there? I never heard of this one haha. Edit: I just looked this up and this game came out on the 11th, but Unity came out Nov. 20th, I heard rumors ubisoft was going down the drain and this just can't be feasible for them to pump these games out like nothing, I just looked and found that another Assassin's Creed has been announced for next year. I think that this is a serious question that needs to be brought up in the gaming community and that is: "Are games being pumped out too quickly?" Because to be honest game qualities are going down and I feel another Gaming collapse could happen soon.
