Lost progress; checkpoints not saved

Here's my situation.

New Xbox one purchased Feb/2015. 

Solo player. 

Master Chief Collection. 

Plan was to work my way through the collection on legendary starting obviously with Halo CE.

 

I've lost my progress several times. Coming from Xbox-360  I'm religious about Save&Quit

Often I'll turn on the console the next day and be back several checkpoints.

After the 3/4/2015 update I was tossed back to the beginning of the level. 

I've tried deleting the console save and resyncing from the cloud, no change.

 

I'm not sure what to try. It's unusable at this point. 

Any ideas if this is isolated to Halo?

I have the same issue. My little brothers, who do not have Internet, do not. It's absolutely maddening. i cannot describe how pissed off this makes me.
