Caboose The Ace
Hearing that a Spartan was 'killed', is a massive deal. If a marine hears that, they'll lose a lot of hope. So would civilians. It was never even revealed to the public when a Spartan-II went MIA. If a Spartan-II is listed as KIA, then what chance would a marine have? People need the confidence, a reduction in morale would affect combat efficiency. That's kinda what I said and what Bacon clarified. Since the Unsc was loosing a planet every month it was pretty obvious moral was low despite the bravado of the marines in the Halo games, it was rock bottom for about 20 years. So of course hearing a Spartan killed, Spartans who seem to be the only thing that can stand up to the Covenant would be the nail in the coffin for moral. Maybe not to begin with but certainly as the war dragged on Spartans became pretty much the Humanities last hope so it was really important to not tell people how many Spartans died. Especially at Reach.
